We need a rethink of the state. Restore need the 5,10,15,20 year visions. Call it Restore Britain 2060. - highstreets that enable new and local businesses to flourish, heritage design codes enforced in towns and villages and giving subsidies to areas enforcing them so they can keep building better. - pubs thriving once again, one for every 1000-1500 people, one or two in every town and village, centers of community, different offerings, from the ones focusing on booze, some on food, some on family venues, some on partying. - the tax and welfare systems reformed together to work, so work always pays, disabled people are looked after, and the young aren't being impoverished to pay for elderly pensions. Still looking after the elderly but maybe with a small uplift as opposed to a comprehensive state pension for all. - the NHS, working and functioning for citizens. A focus on early and rapid diagnosis, of early interventions and treatments. Of cheap and plentiful private fast tracks and options. £10 for blood tests the day of diagnosis at a community test center, or wait for a week or two for a free appointment. Routine waitlists that are longer than 12 weeks distributing "go private" vouchers, get the treatment, get the aftercare for 3-4 months get it sorted, with a goal to get all waitlists under 6 weeks, and it's just that a goal, an aspiration not a commitment, to fix it would require generational change. All while maintaining long term and complex care needs, which over time would reduce as sicknesses, disabilities, blood and genetic screenings would detect things more accurately earlier and earlier. - high skilled automated factories, in all sectors from ceramics and glassware to high end electronics produced domestically. - quality and effective training available for the masses as a goal, disability and higher need provisions available, multiple new routes and a way of education. 6 routes, High academic, low academic, mixed, low technical, high technical, specialist. For lower and higher education. Practical courses must be made, every student needs some form of trade qualification. You don't want to have to do it, but it should be there for understanding or a backup, give high academics electronics courses, give high technical bricklaying and construction. - a nation where energy bills cost £20 a month, every building has moved to air-conditioning and heating, gas only used for cooking and water heating via a boiler. Where solar panels are covering carparks to provide cover and shade. - a nation where the young don't have to apply to 1000 Jobs to get 1 interview, a nation where you can walk out of a job in the morning and walk into one the next morning. A job market that works for the worker, where employers are able to take the strain and are enabled to hire local and hire at good wages - a nation where public transport is integrated, fair and affordable, as much as private transport is. Realising different areas have different needs. (And make it so if you cancel the ticket at least 36 hours before it's refundable) We need a nation of hope, dignity and restoration. A nation of factories, of industry, of commerce. A nation where the industrial north, the commercial south, the agricultural countryside and the Urban churn of cities are enabled and not hindered. A nation where heritage is respected, where buildings are brought back into usage, where churches are centers of charity and community once again. A nation where justice is served fairly, from the death penalty to the asbo orders of old. That is a nation I could be proud of That is a nation I could live in That is a nation I could love.
