Evidence for lymph node organs in unsuspected places of the body keeps emerging. Now with the artery to promote autoimmunity and accelerate atherosclerosis. An auto-antibody titer (anti-H2B) predicts thoracic artery calcification in people, at least as well as LDL cholesterol. nature.com/articles/s44161-0…

Another demonstration of the importance of studying target tissue. We had found a clonal T cell population in the skin (and not found in the blood) in this complicated case of anti-synthetase syndrome.
This case report describes the clinical course of a 32-year-old woman with anti-synthetase syndrome presenting with angioedema-like panniculitis and subsequently cutaneous ulcers, synovitis, and fevers, found to have a clonal TCR-beta gene rearrangement. ja.ma/4alsJqz

Words of wisdom for those wanting to start a lab👇
I only started my lab a little over 4y ago as an Instructor @harvardmed @MGHHeartHealth with a new K08 award in hand. 4 R01 awards as PI later, here's what I've learned as a physician-scientist:

Not seeing our loved ones, not being able to be together or embrace each other, is incredibly hard. I know people are frustrated. But we need your patience just a little while longer. Your 9-1-1 call is being answered.

We've assumed once scar (fibrosis) formed in an organ, it would be too late to reverse it. But science has deconstructed this process and it may turn out to be treatable. A beautiful review today @nature nature.com/articles/s41586-0… @EdinburghUni's N Henderson, @IBD_FloMD Thomas Wynn

As promised, here’s an overview of our study to find host factors required for SARS-CoV-2 infection in human cells. We use a genome-wide CRISPR screen to identify genes (& key mechanisms) that might be therapeutically targetable to prevent viral infection.

Echoing data from South Korea, data from Iceland shows that #COVID19 prevalence is much higher in young adults (where testing is widespread and not symptom-driven). We'll need more testing, including serologic testing, before easing restrictions. Thx @alexandreafonso for graphic!
Here is a distribution of recorded Covid-19 cases in Iceland (which tests broadly, even people with no symptoms) and the Netherlands (which tests narrowly, only those with severe symptoms)
