WOW! What a day! 💜🩷 Today has been unlike anything we have experienced since starting the Brave Like Remington Foundation! We have NEVER received this many Brave Box requests in a single day. The need is real, and today has shown us just how many families are searching for a little extra comfort, encouragement, and hope during some of the hardest moments of their lives. One thing is becoming very clear. We are making a positive impact! But with growth comes responsibility. We have to make sure we can continue showing up for these children and their families. Brave Box drives are incredible, and we are so grateful for everyone who donates items. But now our biggest challenge is building sustainable funding through monthly donors, corporate sponsorships, and community partnerships. We don’t want to help children for just a few months. We want to build something that will be here for generations. Our primary focus will always be serving families right here in Greater Cincinnati, while continuing to extend our reach to children across the country. The need is there. The mission is working. Now we need the support to sustain it. If you do, I want you to know about the Brave Like Remington Foundation’s Brave Box Program! Our Brave Boxes are filled with age-appropriate gifts, activities, comfort items, and encouragement, all personalized to bring a little happiness to children going through some incredibly difficult times. But here’s the thing. We can’t reach families if they don’t know we exist. Somewhere today, a child is going to have the worst day of their life. And most of the world will never know. Somewhere, a mother is sitting beside a hospital bed, trying to hold herself together because her child needs her to be strong. Somewhere, a father is walking down a hospital hallway, trying to find a place where nobody can see him cry. Somewhere, a little boy is asking when he can go home. Somewhere, a little girl is learning words that no child should ever have to understand. And somewhere, a nurse is doing everything possible to make a terrifying day feel a little less scary. Here’s something we wish more people understood. For families facing serious childhood illnesses, life doesn’t stop. The bills don’t stop. The responsibilities don’t disappear. The rest of the world keeps moving, even when theirs feels like it has completely fallen apart. But neither does kindness. Somewhere, someone is packing a box for a child they’ve never met. Someone is writing an encouraging letter without knowing who will read it. Someone is donating a toy that might become a child’s favorite thing during treatment. And someone is choosing to care about a family they may never meet. That’s the world we want to live in. A world where strangers show up for strangers. Where a child in a hospital knows they’re not forgotten. Where families don’t have to personally know someone to experience their kindness. We cannot take away every diagnosis. We cannot promise every family a happy ending. And we certainly cannot fix everything that’s wrong in this world. But we can make sure that compassion is never one of the things it’s missing. 💜🩷 BRAVE NURSE OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT! 🩺 We are proud to recognize Allison from Sanford Health Children’s in Fargo, North Dakota! Allison was nominated by Kiersten, a mother who experienced firsthand the difference Allison made while caring for her son. Here’s what Kiersten had to say: 💬 “Allison was always so positive. She made sure we were always comfortable and she was so easy to talk to! She made it all feel a little less heavy which is such a big deal when you’re in the thick of it. Her personality is perfect for working with children and we were so happy to have her on our son’s care team.” ❤️ That’s what being a Brave Nurse is all about. When a child is in the hospital, families are often facing some of the hardest days of their lives. Sometimes it’s not just the medicine or treatments that make a difference. It’s the nurse who takes an extra minute to listen, offers a little reassurance, or finds a way to make a difficult day feel a little less overwhelming. Those moments matter. 🃏🏈 POKÉMON & SPORTS CARD DONATIONS NEEDED! ⚾🏀 We’ve noticed an increasing number of children requesting Pokémon cards, football cards, and other sports trading cards as some of their favorite interests when applying for a Brave Box! At the Brave Like Remington Foundation, we do our best to personalize every Brave Box around the child receiving it. Sometimes, something as simple as a pack of Pokémon cards or football cards can bring a little excitement and happiness to a child going through an incredibly difficult time. That’s where our community comes in! 💜🩷 If you have unopened packs of Pokémon cards, football cards, baseball cards, basketball cards, or other trading cards that you would like to donate, we would absolutely love to put them into the hands of some very deserving kids! 📦 Donations can be mailed directly to: Brave Like Remington Foundation P.O. ❤️ THIS is why we do what we do. Meet Tristan! 💜 We recently received an email from Tristan’s mom that reminded us just how much a little happiness can mean to a family going through an incredibly difficult time. She told us: “I really wish you could have heard the screams of joy when Tristan saw all the football cards and Pokémon. He was so excited.” Just read that again. Screams of joy. For a child going through so much, those moments matter. For a parent watching their child face things no child should ever have to face, those moments mean everything. Tristan’s family has been through some heartbreaking circumstances. His mom shared that they had more than 15 people gathered to celebrate him ringing the bell on September 9th, only to have to send everyone home. As parents ourselves, that absolutely breaks our hearts. We can’t change what Tristan and his family are facing. We can’t take away the fear, the uncertainty, or the difficult days ahead. But we can give him something to smile about. And looking at these pictures, we know we did exactly that. Tristan, we hope you know just how many people are cheering you on. Keep fighting, buddy!
