Back in 2008, there was an email circulating on SIPR (the military’s Secret network) from a male State Department employee to a female contractor (I think), although I don’t recall her title or position.
It had been forwarded about a hundred times by the time I read it, because everyone just forwarded it to their friends, like a digital outbreak of the plague for this guy.
In the email (which contained his real name and position), this guy said that he had seen her at the gym (in the Green Zone in Baghdad) a while back and that he thought she was cute, but he didn’t approach her for whatever reason and now that he’s at the end of his tour, he wanted to tell her he think she’s cute and see if she’d want to meet up for dinner or coffee or whatever.
She ended up not responding, but instead forwarded the email to her boyfriend, who IIRC was in Special Forces. Her note read “this is weird, right?” or something to that effect.
Her boyfriend forwarded it to his buddies, who forwarded it to theirs and so on, until everyone with a CENTCOM SIPR email account had read this guy’s email of a last ditch effort to ask her on a date. And OF COURSE he was State Department.
The WEIRDEST thing is, how did this guy even find her name or email address? He must have asked around to get her name, then looked her up on global, then wrote her this sappy email.
Anyway, he was the laughingstock of Iraq for several weeks and it was pretty funny.

Day 1 of calling on @DanScavino to join me in supporting @StephenLimbaugh’s effort to record the America 250 Symphony on US soil. 🇺🇸🦅🎶
I have found myself on a mission to help @StephenLimbaugh surpass his $78,000 goal and record his (soon to be complete) America 250 Symphony here on US soil and release it the day after Christmas (just after Washington crossed the Delaware). I have spent the better part of the day directly contacting media outlets, individuals, and foundations about supporting Stephen Limbaugh's America 250 Symphony. So far, I have contacted the following:
One American News Network - @OANN
Newsmax - @NEWSMAX
Fox News @FoxNews
The Daily Wire -
National Review - @NRO
Washington Times - @WashTimesOpEd
The Federalist - @FDRLST
Chris Macchio - @ChrisMacchio
President Trump - @realDonaldTrump
The Vice President - @JDVance
Dan Scavino - @Scavino47 @DanScavino
Anthony Constantino - @stickermule
Elon Musk - @elonmusk
Leonard Leo - The Marble Freedom Trust
Kevin Roberts - The Heritage Foundation
The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation
Who else should I reach out to about the America 250 Symphony? This is a very important thing, and hardly anyone even knows about it. We must help grow Stephen’s reach.
Give here: givesendgo.com/a250symphony
Please share this far and wide, support the cause, and take a moment to send this directly to someone that you know will want to support the America 250 Symphony.
Thank you for watching my video and reading my post. I deeply appreciate it!

Lest we ever forget: on July 4, 1993, a patriot with a world-class mullet named Lex Luger climbed aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid and, before his countrymen and the Almighty, bodied Yokozuna for the red, white, and blue.

"Why is your web map so slow?"
This is one of the worst things any geospatial developer can hear from a client.
You've spent tons of effort building a web application to their exact specifications based on a sophisticated analysis.
It worked great "on your machine" in local demos.
But now that you've deployed it? It's practically unusable.
I've been there. This was my motivation for developing {freestiler}, an R / Python framework for creating vector tiles.
Vector tiles solve the "slow web map" problem for large datasets, but they haven't always been the easiest to create.
freestiler can create PMTiles straight from your R / Python objects, @duckdb databases, or even shapefiles.
Host your tiles on @Cloudflare R2 and you'll have a low-cost vector tile solution ready to go. Use a Worker and make it even faster.
This is the exact stack that powers my "146 million US jobs" map.
I can confidently deploy web maps displaying millions of features now without worrying about performance lags.
Solving the "but it worked on my machine!" problem.

It’s a HQ element and a single brigade combat team. If deployed, that would bring the total number of ground forces combined w/ two Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU) to ~8,000. That is not sufficient for a major invasion nor to hold a single city. Says limited/targeted ops only.

WWE would not be where it is today without the larger-than-life characters that compete in the ring … and few, if any, loomed larger than Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea.
He was the archetype of what it meant to be a “Superstar” - a global sensation that inspired millions to work hard at whatever it was they wanted to accomplish and a look that made him recognizable to fans around the world.
Hulk Hogan, clad in red and yellow or nWo black and white, was simply put, iconic. As a Real American or the leader of one of the industry’s biggest factions, he transcended and elevated the entire business to heights never before seen - in every country and on every continent.
There was no one like The Hulkster and there very well may never be another. My family sends their condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
