The Quantum Bullshit Detector was one hell of a dude. He did a great service to the quantum community, whatever your views on him might be. Long live @BullshitQuantum.

Okay legitimate question: 1. Is there any reason to think quantum neural networks will speed up classical problems? 2. Is there an efficient way to train large quantum neural networks? 3. Are there other known quantum ML algorithms for classical problems besides Grover search.

Well, we and our noisy lil two-qubit machines are trying to help save the world from COVID-19 in the same ways everyone else is. (Stay home, wash hands, do not cough on the optics)

A lot of hurt feelings in quantum space cos people don’t understand “Just because you do something “good” doesn’t mean it’s needed”. Companies been doing this for decades! Considering how brutal peer review can be, so surprised how salty ppl get about the bullshit detector 😂

So true. Everything is a “game changer” or “revolution” or “breakthrough”. It’s so hard to find the kernel of what’s new or unique when it’s wrapped up in hyperbolic bullshit.

To be more precise, this is specifically about NISQ: it would be great if something useful came out of it, but there are no good reasons why it would.

Suppose we had arbitrarily powerful quantum computers today. What could we do with them to help that we can't currently do with classical computers? It isn't clear that 'simulate the virus' is really a big help over current computational ability. Are there other helpful options?

Bullshit: “quantum computers over the next 10 to 15 years … may help you make better personal financial decisions through the calculations that your broker is doing,” says Bob Sutor, an IBM Research vice president tasked with driving the quantum computing ecosystem.
