I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Car collision. The driver that hit the parked car says they want to go to the hospital.
Offer the ambulance so we can go.
Driver wants us to wait so they can run the door dash they have two blocks down.
Gets mad we won’t wait, leaves with pizza
15 min later calls for EMS
Getting ready for the coming collapse.
Harvested our sweet potatoes today.
Learned several things about growing them. So next season will be much better.
We have about 10-12 meals here.
Now to blanch and freeze most of them.
Thanks for the motivation @TheSurvivalPodc

Every New Yorker should read this.
As long as @NYCMayor Mamdani wants to force union workers to work with out a contract, refuses to negotiate equal pay, and hikes the cost of medical care, this won’t change.

On Sept. 28, 2025, a gunman rammed a pickup truck into a Latter-day Saints chapel in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, opened fire on worshippers, and set the building ablaze in a horrifying, targeted attack. The FBI later confirmed the s∗ooter was motivated by anti-religious hatred of the Mormon community, and President Trump called it a targeted attack on Christians. Michigan State Police responded within minutes alongside local officers. Police arrived within a minute of the first 911 call and 𝐤!𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬∗𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫 in a gunfight. Four people were already dead. Eight more were wounded. The chapel was gone.
One year later, to the day, that same congregation gathered on the empty lot where their chapel once stood — seated on folding chairs instead of pews — and broke ground on a new one.
Bishop Jeff Schaub called the new building “𝘢 𝘴𝘺𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦, 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨”. Stake President Marcelino Sanchez put it even more plainly: “𝘞𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯”.
Neighbors brought stars bearing the names of the four victims k!lled in the attack. Members pressed them into the dirt on the same ground where the violence happened. Lisa Louis, who was inside the chapel that day and lost her father, Craig Hayden, was among those who stood and watched the first shovels go in.
The congregation didn't just rebuild — they kept giving. They've sent 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 to the local FISH of Grand Blanc food bank twice since the attack, most recently the week of the groundbreaking. And at a recent testimony meeting in Flint, a man who survived 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 stood up and led the music.

Gave whole blood to a person shot in the chest last night.
Initial blood pressure 58/palp, HR 130+
After 2 units: BP 118/62, HR 108
Person was talking by time we arrived at the trauma center.
A year ago, I’m 99.99% sure they would have died.
Give blood, save a life!
