As of yesterday, our contractor has removed 11,751.5 cubic yards of tree debris generated by the January 12th tornadoes, spread out over 247 container loads. Grinding operations will begin this week, turning the debris into mulch. Great job by everyone involved! #ButtsCounty

Tuesday’s debris total reports are in, showing that about 1,540 cubic yards of tree debris was removed from #ButtsCounty right of ways yesterday.
Due to anticipated high winds and storms today, debris removal will be halted until safe to work again. Work should resume Thursday.

Debris removal services will begin tomorrow around #ButtsCounty and in Jenkinsburg by our contractors, Southern Disaster Response. If you click on the ALT text button below you can find out more information about what tornado debris will be picked up and where to place it.
ALT DEBRIS REMOVAL PLAN Debris Management will be starting this Saturday, January 19th. With the Debris Management process, the crews will be slowly going through the county picking up trees, limbs, and tree related storm debris that has been placed by the road. If you are not able to move your storm debris to the road edge of your property, Crisis Cleanup can help. If you need free assistance from Crisis Cleanup, call 470-201-5701. While the storm debris piles are getting picked up, trees within the county will also be getting marked with orange and yellow tags. These tags will indicate if a tree needs to be removed or trimmed back. IF YOU SEE A TAG ON A TREE, DO NOT REMOVE IT. The trees marked with tags are hazardous and are no longer deemed safe. There will be times when roads will be closed during the tree removal process. Prior to the road(s) closing, we will let you all know that way you can be made aware of what is happening.

According to this graphic from WGXA, Butts County was hit by at least one short EF1 tornado and one long track EF2 tornado Thursday that went through the Worthville area. Butts County has now been included in today’s Federal disaster declaration which opens up aid to our county.
