El Niño is putting mangroves and coral reefs under stress, threatening biodiversity and coastal livelihoods. Protecting our ecosystems is not optional it’s essential for survival. #ClimateAction #ClimateJustice
Falling sea levels due to El Niño will hit mangroves and corals
As sea levels rise in the eastern Pacific, they are falling around Australia and the Coral Triangle, leaving some mangroves and corals high and dry

The world cannot afford climate deception. Delaying critical climate assessments is not just a bureaucratic dispute it risks giving governments a free pass to break their emissions commitments while communities suffer the devastating consequences of a crisis they did little to create.
No more delays. No more excuses. No more hiding behind politics. Climate science must be protected, emissions cuts enforced, and governments held accountable for their promises. Our planet is burning, and every delay comes at a cost.

OUR PLANET IS NOT A SACRIFICE ZONE.
Behind every oil pipeline are communities whose land, water, livelihoods, and future are at stake. From the communities affected by EACOP and Tilenga in Uganda to the vulnerable communities facing droughts and floods, people are paying the price for a crisis they did not create.
We cannot build a just future by destroying the environment that sustains us. We need climate justice, accountability, and a genuine transition to clean, renewable energy.
Keep the oil in the ground. Protect the people. Defend our planet. Our future is not for sale.

The planet is burning, communities are suffering, and our future is at stake. We cannot keep destroying the Earth and expect humanity to survive.

Tree Planting and Ecosystem Restoration: We plant trees and promote the restoration and protection of forests, wetlands, and other vital ecosystems to combat climate change and restore biodiversity.
Providing Trees, Fruit Trees, and Seeds: We support communities by providing tree seedlings, fruit trees, and seeds to encourage tree planting, improve food security, restore degraded land, and create sustainable livelihoods.
Climate and Environmental Education: We educate communities, students, and pupils about climate change, environmental conservation, human rights, and the importance of protecting our planet for future generations.
Supporting Affected Communities: We stand with communities affected by EACOP and Tilenga oil projects, floods, droughts, and other environmental and climate-related challenges. We work to raise awareness, promote resilience, and support vulnerable families.
Promoting Clean Energy: We advocate for clean and renewable energy, including solar power, as a sustainable alternative that benefits communities and protects the environment.
Human Rights and Climate Justice: We defend human rights, support environmental defenders, mobilise young people, and advocate for accountability, justice, and the protection of affected communities.
Youth and Community Empowerment: We encourage young people and grassroots communities to participate in environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, tree planting, and climate action.
Our mission is to build resilient communities, restore nature, protect human rights, and create a greener and more sustainable future for all.
CADUG: Defending People. Protecting Nature. Empowering Communities.
We welcome partnerships, collaboration, training, tree seedlings, fruit trees, seeds, and financial support to expand our grassroots work and reach more communities across Uganda.

The planet is suffering, communities are being displaced, and environmental defenders are paying a painful price for speaking the truth.
From the communities affected by EACOP and Tilenga to the people facing floods, droughts, and environmental destruction, the demand for justice cannot be silenced.
At Climate Activists Defenders Uganda @CADuganda256 , we stand for human rights, protect ecosystems, plant trees, educate communities, empower young people, and promote clean, renewable energy.
We cannot build a sustainable future while sacrificing people and nature for profit. Climate justice is not a privilege; it is a right.
Defend the people. Protect the planet. Hold polluters accountable.

Fossil fuels are not the future we deserve.
Behind every oil project lies a question we cannot afford to ignore: Who pays the price for the profits?
From the communities affected by EACOP and Tilenga in Uganda to vulnerable communities across Africa, people face the threat of environmental destruction, displacement, and a climate crisis they did little to create.
Our land is not a sacrifice zone. Our water is not for sale at the expense of our lives. And our future should never be auctioned off for oil profits.
Africa deserves clean energy, climate justice, and development that protects people rather than destroys their livelihoods.
We must keep fossil fuels in the ground and invest in renewable energy that serves communities, protects ecosystems, and safeguards future generations.
The question is not whether we need development. It is whether development should cost us our planet.
The struggle for climate justice continues!

JUSTICE DELAYED, JUSTICE DENIED.
Today, our detained activists returned to Buganda Road Court for their bail hearing. However, Magistrate Achayo Josephine heard bail applications for only five of the ten activists brought to court today.
Of the 13 activists who remained in prison, four were not brought back to court today and are expected to return on 26 October 2026. The nine activists whose cases were heard or scheduled today were remanded until 2 November 2026, when the remaining five bail applications are expected to be heard.
Behind these court proceedings are human beings, families, and young people whose lives remain on hold while they wait for justice and freedom.
At Climate Activists Defenders Uganda (CADUG), we believe that no activist should be made to endure prolonged detention while seeking justice. We call for fairness, respect for human rights, and a just legal process for every detained activist.
Their freedom matters. Their dignity matters. Their lives matter.
We will continue to stand in solidarity with detained activists and demand justice for all those who peacefully defend human rights, climate, and environmental protection.

Another day in court, yet freedom remains out of reach. 13 activists remain behind bars as their families wait in pain. Detention is not justice. Release them now! #FreeTheActivists #HumanRights

TODAY, THEIR FREEDOM IS ON TRIAL.
Today, our activists return to Buganda Road Court for their bail hearing after enduring more than 2 Months of detention at Luzira Maximum Security Prison.
Behind every courtroom appearance are human beings with families, dreams, responsibilities, and futures that should not be held hostage by their commitment to justice.
Bail is not a crime. Demanding freedom is not a crime. Defending human rights and the environment should never cost anyone their liberty.
We call on the court to uphold justice, respect human dignity, and grant our activists bail. Their families deserve peace, their loved ones deserve hope, and these young people deserve the opportunity to return home.
We are watching. We are standing in solidarity. We will not allow their suffering to be forgotten.
FREE OUR ACTIVISTS. LET JUSTICE PREVAIL.

ACTIVISM IS NOT A CRIME AND OUR STRUGGLES ARE NOT IN VAIN!
From Kenya to Uganda and across the world, activists have risked their lives, freedom, education, careers, and family security to demand justice, accountability, equality, and a better future. Some have been killed, others abducted, arrested, tortured, imprisoned, or threatened. Behind every statistic is a human being whose dreams and future matter.
But our story is not only about suffering; it is also about achievement, courage, and the power of collective action.
KENYA: The youth-led protests of 2024 made history. Through public mobilisation and sustained pressure, young people helped force the withdrawal of the controversial Finance Bill 2024. They demonstrated that citizens, especially young people, can challenge powerful institutions and bring national issues into public debate. Their courage also strengthened conversations about corruption, public accountability, and the people's right to participate in decisions affecting their lives. Yet the killings, disappearances, injuries, and arrests that accompanied the protests remain a painful reminder of the price many have paid.
UGANDA: Activists continue to speak out for human rights, environmental protection, climate justice, and communities threatened by destructive projects. Environmental defenders have helped bring local struggles to wider national and international attention, demanding that affected communities be heard and that their rights and livelihoods be protected.
AROUND THE WORLD: Activism has helped advance human rights, expose abuses, challenge discriminatory laws, defend civic freedoms, and bring neglected injustices into public view. Every petition signed, every peaceful protest organised, every community educated, and every injustice documented can contribute to meaningful change.
These are achievements worth recognising. Sometimes victory is a policy withdrawn. Sometimes it is a community finding its voice, a victim receiving support, an abuse being exposed, or a young person finding the courage to speak out for the first time.
But we must never romanticise the suffering that comes with activism. No achievement can justify the loss of innocent lives. No government should treat peaceful criticism as a crime. And no activist should have to sacrifice their education, health, freedom, or future simply for demanding justice.
Behind every activist is someone's child, sibling, friend, or loved one. They have ambitions, families, and dreams beyond the struggle. They deserve to live, recover, learn, work, and contribute to society without fear.
Our responsibility is not only to celebrate activists when they achieve victories. It is also to stand beside them when they are arrested, imprisoned, injured, threatened, or struggling to rebuild their lives.
Solidarity must go beyond hashtags. Activists need legal assistance, medical care, safe housing, education, rehabilitation, and practical support to recover and continue their work safely.
To every activist who has stood up against injustice: your sacrifices must not be forgotten, your achievements must be recognised, and your humanity must never be overlooked.
The greatest achievement of activism is not simply changing a law or challenging a government. It is helping build a society where justice is possible, human dignity is protected, and future generations can speak without fear.
We honour those who came before us, stand with those suffering today, and encourage those who will continue the struggle tomorrow.
Because activism is not about creating heroes through suffering. It is about creating a world where nobody has to suffer for demanding what is right.

Activism isn't a crime
Our land is being sacrificed, our communities are suffering, and those who dare to speak out are facing intimidation and imprisonment.
EACOP-affected communities deserve justice, not exploitation. Our people deserve clean energy, not a future poisoned by fossil fuels.
We will not remain silent while profit is placed above human lives and the future of our planet.
Keep the oil in the ground. Protect our people. Defend our planet.

Good morning, world.
While the world sleeps, our planet continues to suffer. Forests are disappearing, communities are losing their land to fossil-fuel projects, and environmental defenders are paying a heavy price for speaking the truth.
Silence will not save us. Fear will not protect our future. And injustice must never become normal.
We rise again today for climate justice, human rights, and a future where people matter more than profit.

Shakirah Kasoga is not just a name; she is a human being whose life, health and dignity matter. It breaks my heart to think that a young woman who stood up for justice should have to face such suffering while in detention.
No mother, father, sibling or friend should have to watch someone they love suffer and wonder whether she will come home safe. No young woman should have to risk her health for exercising her right to peaceful protest.
Shakirah deserves healing, dignity, freedom and justice—not more suffering. Her health must never be treated as a minor issue, and her life must never be reduced to a forgotten court case.
How many more cries for help must we hear before human life is treated with the respect it deserves? We demand accountability, humane treatment and justice for Shakirah Kasoga and all detained activists.

Did you know?
Eating more plant foods and reducing animal-based foods can help lower greenhouse-gas emissions, land use and pressure on freshwater resources. It can also reduce the land needed for food production, creating more space for ecosystems and biodiversity.
#PlantDiet
Our food choices affect land, water, biodiversity and greenhouse-gas emissions. FAO says agrifood systems account for about one-third of human-made GHG emissions, while sustainable diets can help protect biodiversity and ecosystems.
Choosing more plant-based foods is one practical step toward SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
We need more conscious choices, less waste and a food system that respects people, animals and the planet.

Replying to @EACOP_
@EACOP_ and other fossil-fuel projects must not come at the expense of affected communities, their land, water, livelihoods, human rights, and future generations. Communities facing displacement, land loss, and environmental risks deserve justice, respect, and a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their lives.
No profit is worth sacrificing people's homes, destroying ecosystems, or threatening the future of generations to come. Affected communities must come before corporate profits.
Keep the oil in the ground. Protect affected communities. Defend our land and water. Climate justice cannot wait!
