Specific actions leadaers can take now. 1) Suspend “automatic failure” policies, such as mandatory failures for 10 absences ;2) Evaluate students based on proficiency, not compliance and missing assignments; 3) Review any D/F grade abefore they go to parents.

Parent conference participation increased a ton in the virtual space. In some cases, 300%+.
Maybe our definition of “parental involvement” should have less to do with assuming parents don’t care and more to do with making engagement more convenient for families.
