Stanford University has formed the first current player led public chapter of the College Football Players Association. Read our press release:
Members of our Stanford chapter speaking out against the Protect College Sports Act:
NEW: The Senate is on the verge of passing the "Protect College Sports Act" after lobbying from Amazon, Disney, Paramount and more.
The bill would cap player compensation, but fails to address massive coach salaries, buyouts, or private equity.
Actual college athletes have been left out of the process, so while the NCAA would get an anti-trust exemption, players wouldn't get a seat at the table.
We talked to Stanford football players to learn more.
Another example of why the first plank of our Platform for Change reads, "Guaranteed access to independent medical care."

“All we’re trying to do is give athletes a voice at the table.”
Stanford players formed the first-ever @CFBPAOfficial chapter last week. The organization has a 1-3 year timeline to reach “systemic, conference-level collective bargaining” across the ACC.

The NCAA and its schools want enforceable rules, stable rosters and protection from antitrust lawsuits.

One of the more intriguing parts of the Stanford football frat is the possibility that schools voluntarily recognize player unions.
It sounds far-fetched and NCAA and conference rules would need to change etc., but compare it to the current situation.

Stanford football players are seeking to unionize by forming the first team chapter of the College Football Players Association.
For now, they’re calling it a “fraternity," but these chapters will eventually serve as the basis for a formal college football player’s union.

This is not a union, though CFBPA leaders believe it's the foundation for potential unionizing + collective bargaining.
