BREAKING: CIR returns our Corporate Transparency Act case to the Supreme Court, where we're defending small business owners against an "Orwellian" law that treats entrepreneurs like suspects. Read more: cir-usa.org/press-releases/s…
The federal government has conceded: the SBA says it “fully agrees that the rebuttable presumption is unconstitutional.” Rather than defend it in court, it rewrote the rule. Thanks to CIR’s lawsuit, the racial presumption is out of the regulation. cir-usa.org/cases/ending-rac…
VICTORY: The SBA has scrapped the racial presumption in its Section 8(a) contracting regulation, and cited CIR’s win in Ultima v. USDA as the reason. Race no longer presumes disadvantage. Every applicant now competes under the same test. cir-usa.org/press-releases/v…
#SCOTUS declined to take up our challenge to the Corporate Transparency Act before the Fifth Circuit rules. This means that the case now moves forward in the Fifth Circuit, where it still remains pending. The fight continues.

All power needs limits. The Constitution divides authority between Washington and the states and protects your individual rights against both. Together, those safeguards help Americans live freely, pursue opportunity, and build strong communities.
This #ConstitutionDay, we celebrate a constitutional order whose ultimate purpose is the freedom of the people.
The Constitution's design isn't a technicality. It protects the freedoms that let people flourish. Happy #ConstitutionDay.
Constitutional protections are effective only if someone enforces them. This #ConstitutionDay, CIR is proud to stand in court for free speech, equal treatment, and competitive federalism, because individual liberty is essential to a free and flourishing society.

“Louisiana does not own the English language.”
A federal judge has blocked the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists from enforcing a law that made it a crime for licensed therapists to use words like “psychology” and “psychological” to truthfully describe their work.
The ruling means Julie Alleman and Juliet Catrett can put the name “Psychological Wellness Institute” back on their door and once again speak openly with clients about the psychological principles behind their treatment.
States may regulate professional conduct and prevent fraud, but they may not ban truthful, non-misleading speech merely because a licensing board dislikes who is saying it.

“This is a happy day for every professional who wants to speak truthfully about their work,” Juliet Catrett added. “We’re thankful to CIR and @PelicanInst for standing with us and making sure we could honestly describe the care we provide.”
This week, a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction barring the Louisiana State Board of Psychologists from enforcing the statute against the plaintiffs, which means that licensed therapists Julie and Juliet can again put the name “Psychological Wellness Institute” back on their door.

New York is trying to regulate farmers and fuel producers a thousand miles outside its borders.
CIR isn't going to let that happen.

For years, Portland increased funding for some of its public schools based on the racial makeup on the student body. When Richard Raseley learned that his daughter’s school received less under this race-based formula, he took action.
Join Richard and a panel of experts for a critical conversation about the continued use of racial preferences in American Education—and what you can do to defend the equal protection of the law.

Appeals court reinstates cardiologist's federal lawsuit against UPMC, Pitt triblive.com/local/appeals-c…
After a six-year legal battle, the Third Circuit just revived Dr. Norman Wang's retaliation and defamation claims against Pitt and UPMC. A huge step forward — for Dr. Wang, and for every scholar who's ever been punished for asking an honest question. cir-usa.org/press-releases/p…
The Johnsons’ minor daughter has a serious condition that requires lifelong cardiac monitoring. Her parents need real-time access to test results, doctors’ notes, scans, and next steps.
But when their daughter turned 12, the hospital system locked them out of her electronic medical records. That’s a violation of federal law.
Now, CIR is suing to enforce the Johnsons’ rights – because parents shouldn’t need a hospital permission slip to view their own kids’ medical records.

No state gets to be the rule-maker for its neighbors.
CIR is representing Iowa, Missouri, and the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce in a new challenge to New York’s attempt to regulate out-of-state biofuel producers.

"New York bureaucrats cannot tell Iowa farmers and ethanol and biofuel producers how to do their job or what regulations they need to follow. It's as simple as that." @AGIowa on her pathbreaking lawsuit, teaming up with @AGCHanaway, @AmfreeChamber & @CIRights in @DMRegister
New York can make policy for New York.
It cannot govern Iowa, Missouri, or the rest of the country.
CIR filed a new federal lawsuit challenging New York’s attempt to impose greenhouse-gas reporting rules on out-of-state biofuel producers.
