Britain’s new minimum wage: £27,456 a year. Higher-rate income tax kicks in at £50,270. Wage compression the Soviet Union could only have dreamed of.
🚨 NEW: John Healey will increase the minimum wage for over 21s from £12.71 to around £13.20

Arsenal whopper still acting like a bellend.
My ability to take the Ballon d'Or seriously vanished when Henry was continuously overlooked for it, but Raya missing out to Simon this year only underlines again how farcical the whole thing can be.

A saving of £21 a year?! Golly gosh, looks like I’d better log in to Legal & General to amend my pension forecasts. Retirement comes early now. Thank you, Andy Pandy.
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced five "everyday fixes" ahead of the Budget 1. Carer's Allowance will be changed so carers no longer lose their entire benefit when they earn over the limit - instead, their support will reduce by £1 for every extra £1 they earn 2. Import tariffs will be removed on more than 100 products, including baked beans, chocolate and gherkins, to save households up to £21 on their food shop a year 3. Tax-free mileage rates for workers using their own cars will be made permanent at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, with the rate for additional miles rising from 25p to 35p 4. Parental pay will be extended to over 150,000 more parents a year, including self-employed fathers and partners 5. Hundreds more Post Office drop boxes will be rolled out to save people queueing at branches

I imagine most English football fans this morning woke up like proud family members seeing Harry Kane with the Ballon d'Or last night. Couldn’t go to a more humble winner. Big up Michael Olise too. A Reading graduate in the top 10. Wow. #BallonDor2026

Another increase in employment costs for businesses already dealing with higher wages and taxes. Then we wonder why companies aren’t hiring.

It’ll be a genuine disgrace if Harry Kane isn’t crowned the Ballon d’Or winner tonight. Head and shoulders above everyone else and comfortably the most consistent footballer in the world. His stats are absolutely ridiculous!

I must say, it was difficult hearing the hurt in Gary Neville's voice at the end of that game, so I turned up the volume on the TV and could hear it much better.
Bournemouth score a third through Evanilson.

Tonight, Cardiff Castle will light up green to mark Dwarfism Awareness Day. 💚 The illumination celebrates diversity and helps raise awareness and understanding of dwarfism. orlo.uk/S4Qel

The irony of Neville talking about sacking managers.
"They're probably going to sack him" Gary Neville's immediate reaction to Man Utd's 3-0 loss to Bournemouth 😳

You know I was just thinking the other day these teachers who get 13 weeks off a year could do with an additional 39 days a year off each year.

Rinse and repeat. It’s an absolute must that they bring in a new number 1 goalkeeper in January. We cannot keep persisting with Joel Pereira. Fans and players have no confidence in him #ReadingFC

We are incredibly fortunate to have come away from the last 2 home games with 6 points. Two turgid performances, neither deserving of the wins. But we’ll take it. Big improvements are needed across the park #ReadingFC
