Many are (confusingly) referring to record-breaking CA coastal water levels as arising from "king tides" despite only moderate astronomical influence. Instead, main culprit is local sea rise from extreme El Niño event! Actual Nov-Jan king tides will bring *greater* inundation.

Big Sur, California just recorded its warmest water temperature in recorded history.
67.3°F on Monday, 11°F above normal.
Record warm waters for October now span much of the California coast from San Diego to the Bay Area. You can see well above normal sea surface temperatures spreading north throughout October.

I agree with this, but there's still a problem with how LLMs too often provide users information that contains a liberal or "goodthinky" framing.
Let me give you the most recent example I ran into: Last night, I asked Gemini for the mean SAT score across all HBCUs. (I knew what the score was, but I wanted confirmation before posting a tweet.)
Instead of giving me what I asked for, it provided a list of the five HBCUs with the highest average SATs, along with brief descriptions of the "excellence" of each of these schools.
So, I did what I always do, which is call it out. I asked: "Why did you provide the average student SAT scores for the top 5 HBCUs, and not the mean of all of them? Why did you do this?"
Gemini responded the way it always does, with an effusive apology, admitting its mistake, and then it provided a figure.
But the figure was the top of the typically stated mean range, not the actual mean. So, again, I had to call it out, and, again, it apologized and then gave me the actual mean.
I guess what I'm saying is, yes, LLMs are likely to have a positive effect countering "fake news" and conspiracy theories, but it would be nice if they didn't so frequently resort to unhelpful "goodthink" on some of the more contentious and "sensitive" culture war issues (like those relating to race and gender).
Finally, I'll add this: They all do seem to be getting less biased and more nuanced as time goes on. Three years ago, it was pointless asking most of them questions on certain topics, but these days, although sometimes only after some prodding, you're likely to get what you need within a reasonably fair and balanced presentation.
AI could push back against public irrationality like conspiracy theories, fake news, & medical quackery. Whereas social media optimize for sheer engagement (clicks, likes, & reposts), AI is sold as a useful product that aids decision-making in the real world. For all the problems of LLMs, they're less likely to send users down a conspiratorial rabbit hole. This may restore the influence of epistemically responsible expertise. “Rhythm Is a Dancer” features vocals by Thea Austin and a rap by Turbo B. It appears on Snap!’s 1992 album The Madman’s Return. Turbo B initially rejected the track when he first heard it, but later added his verse. The song is built around a simple, infectious dance groove with Spanish guitar and choir-like textures.
Released in 1992, it spent six weeks at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and became the best-selling single of the year in the UK. It also topped the charts in Germany, France and several other European countries and reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track is widely remembered for the line “I’m as serious as cancer when I say rhythm is a dancer,” which Turbo B included in his rap. The music video was directed by Howard Greenhalgh and filmed in Florida.

Wednesday October 28, 2026 7:02AM: The latest EU1 0Z this morning shows the awaited Halloween storm system is heading to Southern California, so the atmospheric satellite that we all saw yesterday was indeed accurate; now verified that the models are finally waking up and sending the storm into our region.
Las Vegas and Phoenix, Arizona will also get rainfall Friday at 10 AM to late Halloween morning. A secondary embedded disturbance will move through ahead of the main subtropical system.
The main low axis are expected to start on Saturday Halloween October 31, 2026 12PM to November 1, 2026 8AM for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, and possibly Santa Barbara County, extending south into San Diego County. San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, the high deserts, and interior eastern deserts of Southern California will get rain.
The rainfall amounts are 0.80 to 1.5 inches. I’m monitoring this weather situation closely in the next 24 - 26 hours. There will be more adjustments or changes, to be made to this forecast.
⚠️At 10:35 AM today unusually strong king high tides will reach record levels. Unfortunately, more coastal flooding is projected for Newport Beach and Long Beach and the immediate coastal region, even down into San Diego. #CAwx #Halloween #californiastorms #ElNiño

Positive Phase TDS which afflicts the sycophants and personality cult-worshipping fan-bois and fan-grlz vs. Negative Phase TDS which afflicts Trump haters who constantly think and talk about him.

"And thus did Melkor breed the hideous race of the Orcs in envy and mockery of the Elves, of whom they were afterwards the bitterest foes." -The Silmarillion, Chapter III (Of the coming of the Elves and the captivity of Melkor)
"With them they brought Gelmir son of Guilin, that lord of Nargothrond whom they had captured in the Bragollach; and they had blinded him. Then the heralds of Angband showed him forth crying: 'We have many more such at home, but you must make haste if you would find them; for we shall deal with them all when we return even so.' And they hewed off Gelmir's hands and feet, and his head last, within sight of the Elves, and left him." - Of the Fifth Battle
"For the Men of Brethil had waylaid at the Crossing of Teiglin the Orc-host that led the captives of Nargothrond, hoping to rescue them; but the orcs had at once cruelly slain their prisoners, and Finduilas (Orodreth's daughter) they pinned to a tree with a spear." - Of Turin Turambar
"But at last Haldad was slain in a sortie against the orcs; and Haldar, who rushed out to save his father's body from their butchery, was hewn down beside him." - Of the coming of Men into the West
The orcs are, in fact, rampaging monsters, and this attempt at subversion of the canon by the showrunners is particularly grotesque.
