Nigel Farage has responded to Shabana Mahmood’s U-turn on migration rules, calling it a betrayal of the British people.
Labour has abandoned any serious attempt at border control.
The decision to reduce the residency requirement for care workers from 15 years to 5 years is estimated to cost taxpayers around £10 billion and could allow up to 300,000 low-wage migrants to gain permanent settlement.
The change will place further strain on the welfare system, schools, hospitals and housing.
It directly contradicts the pledge to reduce net migration and shows a complete lack of resolve.

• 1.34 million British families are stuck on council housing waiting lists, some facing delays of up to a decade for a secure home
• Over 382,000 of our own people are legally homeless, including an unprecedented 175,000+ children living in temporary accommodation
• Rough sleeping on our streets has surged to a record high of 4,793 people on any given night—and 79% of them are UK nationals
At the exact same time, the Home Office is supporting roughly 89,000 asylum seekers nationwide while trying to close down migrant hotels
The mathematical reality is undeniable. If hotels are closing, council houses are completely full, and the private rental sector has a multi-year waiting list, where are these thousands of arrivals from the Channel crossings supposed to go?
Every placement adds immediate, secondary pressure to local council resources, schools, and health authorities that are already at a literal breaking point
It is entirely unsustainable to ask local communities to manage a cross-border migration crisis when we cannot even fulfill our basic obligations to the citizens who live here
Stop side-stepping the infrastructure reality. Put our own struggling families first and tell the public exactly how this system is supposed to cope

The British RNLI lifeboat 13 02 appears to have picked up migrants and docked in Boulonge-sur-mer!
This may be due to an accident or even a fatality, but it begs the question: Why won't the French allow us to do this EVERY TIME?
Delivering illegal migrants who are technically "rescued" at sea back to France would immediately cut off the flow.
This would be better for everyone: The UK would stop the boats, the migrant camps in France would disperse and the migrants themselves wouldn't endanger their lives by attempting to cross the Channel. Literally everyone would be winner.

First came the pump. Then came the rocks.
While standing in the sea documenting an illegal migrant boat crossing, smugglers launched the very pump used to inflate their boat directly at my head.
And I captured the moment in a single photograph.
Look closely. That pump is flying straight towards me.
This was only the beginning. Shortly afterwards, I was chased down the beach by men throwing rocks at my head.
All because I dared to photograph what was happening.
Intimidation. Violence. Attacks on a photographer simply doing his job.
I came armed with a camera. They responded with a pump and a barrage of rocks.

Absolutely extraordinary scenes this morning as illegal migrants battled ferocious waves to board a boat bound for Britain.
At times, I was completely submerged in water deeper than my own height, filming the chaos unfolding around me.
But watch the smugglers.
They jump OFF the boat and make their way BACK to the French shore, leaving the migrants to continue towards Britain.
That is the most important part of this footage.
The smugglers deliver their human cargo, abandon the boat and return to France.
The migrants head for Britain. The smugglers head back to shore.
Watch closely. This is how the operation works, captured from inside the water at considerable personal risk.
