Secondaries are closed because most teens can be left at home whilst parents work.
Primaries are open because parents won't be able to work if children aren't at school.
The decision isn't about health, it's about the economy (as ever!)

Some countries whose educational impact we admire do not start formal schooling until age 6. Bringing 4 year olds back into school is not for education per se. It is for free, quality child care & stimulation - could be provided in other ways. 7 to 11 years need school.

To clarify, teachers are not wanting to stay home or shirk work. All educators want to be at school with the children they love, care for and have worked so hard for in the current challenges we face. But they want to open when it is safe to do so; when they can keep schools safe

Today we honor St. Gianna Molla, who courageously battled a difficult pregnancy in order to save her unborn daughter. That daughter, also named Gianna, was at her mother's canonization in 2004. Patron of mothers, physicians, and the unborn, pray for us!
