A first step to healing; portable benefits 1/ non-employer-tied healthcare, retirement, disability. Then workers can move between industries and more importantly roles. 2/ normalize mid-career retraining, making it financially and socially viable. Think about it.

We didn’t fail because manufacturing moved. There was no bridge for laborers to cross into a new economy. No education or upskilling. No dignified path. A failure of policy, of social structure, and to me cultural vision. That’s the fracture we must now heal.
