That was quick … some intraday gains in our portfolio
So close to a bottom in the precious metals complex. One day soon all PM producers will jump 5-10% in one day #fortherecord

Expect noise this week as the Fed, ECB and BoJ all weigh in. Gold may react to every headline, but its role in a portfolio isn’t decided by any one meeting. Stay tuned for more and keep focus on the long-term picture. #Gold

China’s copper import premium hit $178 a metric ton, its highest since 2014. The Yangshan premium, a gauge of China’s appetite for imported copper, reached that level after Shanghai Futures Exchange copper stocks fell more than 25% to 54,356 metric tons. Copper edged up 0.1% to $14,341 a metric ton on Monday, with the strike at Teck’s Highland Valley mine having little impact on prices. Source: Reuters

Fed rate hike odds for Wednesday have fallen to under 10% from about 70% a month ago, according to the World Gold Council. The recent decline in bond yields reflects a rotation into Treasuries amid weakness in AI-related stocks, rather than a meaningful softening in inflation expectations, the council says. That leaves markets vulnerable to Thursday’s PCE inflation print, which is expected to accelerate to 3.6% year on year. Q3 GDP growth is also due Thursday and is expected to rise to 3.2% from 2.2%, which could temper the rotation into bonds and call into question the recent apparent preference for bonds over gold. A 46+ year technical support is coming into play for Silver. This is a key moment, over the coming days/weeks. Is Silver in a true bull market giving buyers an excellent entry point? Or are bears going to get one more big flush-out below $50? My money is on silver holding, reversing shortly....

Silver continues to trade on a softer footing, hovering near an 11-month low, while gold’s ability to hold around USD 4,000 has pushed the gold-silver (XAUXAG) ratio higher towards 74.50. A sustained break above the 50% Fibonacci retracement at 74.66 could signal further relative weakness in silver, potentially opening the door to 82.30, the 61.8% retracement of the 2025–26 decline. In a more pronounced downside scenario, a continued rise in the ratio towards the high 90s would imply silver trading in the low USD 40s, assuming gold remains near USD 4,000. While such an outcome is not our base case, silver has clearly lost some of its earlier momentum, with concerns about economic growth and fading speculative appetite weighing on sentiment. Silver’s tendency to amplify gold’s moves has also become a headwind as momentum-driven buying subsides. As with gold, much of the recent selling appears to have been driven by momentum-focused hedge funds, reflected in a decline in the managed money net long to a 32-month low of just 3,746 contracts. In contrast, ETF demand has remained relatively resilient, with holdings rising to 25.1k tonnes, a seven-month high, from a July low of 24.3k tonnes. This divergence suggests that while speculative positioning has weakened considerably, longer-term investor interest remains intact. For now, the key technical level to watch is 74.66 on the ratio, with a sustained break potentially pointing to further silver underperformance. Conversely, a rejection at this level could provide some near-term relief, with initial support around 72. Ultimately, gold remains the main source of directional guidance, while a sustained recovery in silver will likely depend on renewed momentum across the broader precious metals complex.

Lots of big developments for gold over the next couple of weeks. Gold has been very sensitive to the macro data, and last week’s pullback is a good example of that. I’d expect more of that as these events unfold. #Gold #FOMC #Midterms

India has issued permits for about 6,500 metric tons of silver imports over the next six months, four bullion dealers who received them told Reuters. Dealers said premiums over official domestic prices fell to 45 cents an ounce on Thursday from as much as $2.50 the previous week. Domestic demand for silver jewelry and investment remains weak as prices fall, and India relies on overseas purchases for more than 80% of its silver demand. “The government has allowed much more silver to be imported than the country is likely to need over the next six months,” the CEO of Amrapali Group Gujarat said.
