Cargo flights are lifelines for the North. Today on behalf of Minister @stevenmackinnon, I joined colleagues at @FlyYOW to open @CanadianNorth’s expanded cargo facility. Faster shipping of fresh food and medicine strengthens northern supply chains, Arctic sovereignty, and Canada.

Proud to officially open the Food Sovereignty Summit alongside Food Banks CEO Kirstin Beardsley, ITK President Natan Obed, and Chief Desmond Bull of AFN. I want to recognize as well the presence and advocacy of MP Lori Idlout and MP Phillip Earle. Grateful for the opening ceremony by Elder Verna McGregor, starting us off in a good way. We gather today on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe territory to share, listen, and learn about the ways in which Northern communities strengthen local food security, and how we can best support them.

Logistics and supply chains are key to strengthening Manitoba’s economy. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Arctic Gateway Group, the Winnipeg Airport Authority, and CentrePort Canada is a bold step to make logistics and transportation more efficient, connected, and resilient. The leadership demonstrated by industry is seen and supported by our government. And it also highlights the importance of private-provincial-federal collaboration.    So we’re going to keep celebrating and amplifying moves like this.   And we’re going to keep putting in the work - with partners - so we can deliver results for Canadians and our communities back home.

Je suis fière d'annoncer un financement combiné de plus de 20 millions de dollars pour aider à construire une résidence de 54 logements dans le quartier chinois de Winnipeg. Mes collègues députés Duguid et Lavack, la ministre provinciale du Logement Bernadette Smith et le maire Scott Gillingham se joignent à moi pour inaugurer les travaux. C’est un exemple de ce que nous pouvons accomplir lorsque les gouvernements fédéral, provincial, territorial et municipal travaillent ensemble. Je tiens également à remercier le ministre Robertson pour son travail dans le cadre du programme Maisons pour le Canada. Nous réduisons les coûts, allégeons les formalités administratives et construisons plus de logements plus rapidement.
