Western leaders think international law is for everyone but them. A French historian who studied Hitler's Germany his whole life calls that "nearly fascist." Édouard Husson says the rulers of Europe and America, "not their populaces," believe "they enjoy privileges that other nations don't." For them, international law applies "to others, but not to them." Look at what they did. In 1999 NATO bombed Yugoslavia for 78 days without UN approval. In 2003 the US and Britain invaded Iraq the same way. The UN Secretary-General called that war "illegal." When the International Criminal Court wanted Putin arrested, Biden called it "justified." When the same court wanted Netanyahu arrested, Washington put sanctions on the court. Rules for everyone else, privileges for themselves. A historian of Nazism knows what that is.

"Hey Mykola, check the casket too, they might be trying to pull a fast one on us."
The narcofuhrer’s body snatchers hit a new low They abducted a hearse driver in the middle of the workday to fill the mobilisation quota. The grieving family had no choice. They pulled the coffin out of the vehicle and carried the dead to the cemetery themselves. Even the dead are not spared.

Economist Jeffrey Sachs explains the origins of British Russophobia and arrives at a conclusion that is rare in the West: “We’re in the Second Crimean War for exactly the same reason that Palmerston and Napoleon III launched the First Crimean War. This is not Putin’s war, this is our war, ladies and gentlemen. It just came about in a slightly different way, but very similar.”

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov🇷🇺: ‘Over the past 500 years, all tragedies in the world originated in Europe or occurred owing to European policies: colonisation, the Crusades, the Crimean War, Napoleon, WW1, Hitler…’ After 300 years of slaughtering the peoples of the world and plundering the wealth of the global south to build the cities of Europe… Their empires crumbled in 1945. Since then, all they have had to offer the world is neocolonialism, uncritical vassalage to the United States, and now face being an afterthought and an irrelevance. Instead of recognising a new world exists where neocolonialism will not be tolerated, and prioritising economic rejuvenation via engagement with the rising powers of the 21st Century… Europe instead decides to invest its remaining and dwindling fortunes into the military-industrial complex to fight a war against Russia which none of their populations are remotely interested in…while the rest of the civilised world invests in trade and development. Europe had a last chance to look to the future, and instead violently jerked their heads 180 degrees back to the past.
Prof. Richard Wolff: ‘The only solution for Europe’s decline to re-orient themselves to the rest of the world. The only European country to have done that is RUSSIA🇷🇺.’ ‘World Wars One and Two were the culmination of European colonialism, in which the leading colonial powers slaughtered each other on a spectacular level that the world had never seen before or since, luckily speaking. But that was the end of all of those empires. Only one survived: the United States, protected by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and by the limits of air power at that time, they came through. You know, Russia lost 27 million people in World War II. The United States death count: 400,000. No comparison between these two. The last 70 years have been the uni-empire. The United States inherited, benefited from, and consolidated, and became the global empire. With all the wealth that had been siphoned out of the so-called Global South to Europe, now going instead, here to the United States. The United States gave a portion of that back to Europe, a kind of debt, if you like, of having inherited all that empire, all that wealth, but they never gave the empire back to the Europeans, so they lost it, and now they’re losing what little bit they held on to, and it’s over. And the question is, can military Keynesianism replace the fantastic transfer of wealth in the 17th, 18th, and 19th century into the 20th? And my answer is no. There is no way that that domestic program can do for England or for Europe, all the colonial powers, what they lost. The only way to do that, ironically, would be for European countries to understand the need to reorient themselves to the rest of the world, and there’s only one country in Europe that has done that, and that’s Russia.’ Full interview in the quoted post 👇 @profwolff

That story about Google killing hundreds of thousands of trees in Finland for its data center project is such a perfect microcosm of what capitalism is doing to our world. Recent mass media headlines are saying the tech giant "illegally" cut down "250,000" trees, but both claims paint an inaccurate picture of what actually happened. Google killed 400,000 trees (250,000 near a town called Muhos and another 150,000 near the village of Otanmäki), and unless the company's executives actually wind up going to prison for this, their actions cannot properly be described as "illegal". I don't know who first coined the saying "If the penalty is a fine, then it's legal for rich people," but it certainly applies here. The Finnish Licensing and Supervision Authority has reportedly ordered Google to suspend all “measures that significantly change the environment," saying it will "consider enforcement proceedings and fines" if the megacorporation does not comply. Google's parent company Alphabet has a net worth of around four trillion dollars. Whatever paltry penalties Finland might impose for these ecocidal actions, it won't have any meaningful effect on Google. Giant corporations do this shit all the time. They calculate that the fines incurred by their abusive actions will be dwarfed by the massive profits they generate, issue fake apologies as needed, and leave it to their armies of lawyers to minimize the damage. That's why the Sackler family is still worth billions despite all the fines Purdue Pharma was slapped with while creating the US opiate epidemic. A 2017 Harvard study titled “The Opioid Epidemic: Fixing a Broken Pharmaceutical Market" contains the following paragraph: "Although civil claims and criminal charges were brought against Purdue and its executives, the resulting penalties paled in comparison to extended-release oxycodone profits. In May 2007, the company and its president, chief counsel, and former chief medical officer pled guilty to falsely marketing extended-release oxycodone as 'less addictive, less subject to abuse and diversion, and less likely to cause tolerance and withdrawal than other pain medications.' As part of the plea bargain, Purdue agreed to pay the federal government $600 million and 27 states $20 million. The three executives agreed to $34.5 million in fines but avoided jailtime. By contrast, Purdue has earned an estimated $31 billion in total revenues from extended-release oxycodone since its launch. Rather than deterring fraudulent marketing, the penalties simply became a cost of doing business." A cost of doing business. That's how things work under capitalism. The law primarily exists not to protect people or the environment, but to protect the interests of capital. If you destroyed a Google data center you'd probably be charged as a terrorist and spend decades in prison, but Google can destroy the natural world around you and get off with a finger wag and a symbolic fine. If you stole millions of dollars from your employer you'd go to prison for grand larceny, but if your employer steals millions from its employees you need to win a class action lawsuit to get back what they stole from you. Proponents of capitalism often pretend they support minimal government intervention in civilian affairs, but their entire model is at all times propped up by state power using force to protect the haves from the have-nots at every level of our society. Corporations are free to destroy the environment, destroy your health, rob you, exploit you, and manipulate your government to their advantage, and if you ever take action to stand up to this world-devouring onslaught, the state will lock you in a cage. In school we are taught that that the law exists to protect ordinary people from bad people, but that's not true at all. Under capitalism, the law exists to protect the very worst among us from everyone else. That's why we are seeing our planet being turned into dust and ashes for no reason other than shareholder profit. It's an insane system, and it needs to end. These freaks are feeding our entire biosphere into the woodchipper.

“We don’t have a negotiation position. We don’t have any negotiator. We never talk to the Russians. And I think that would be very, very difficult for us… I remember in July this year, Mrs. von der Leyen going to Kiev and pronouncing that now Kiev is winning and Russia has to be forced to the negotiation table. But I think it downs also on these European leaders that this is not the case and that they're losing badly,” – German MEP and veteran politician Michael von der Schulenburg. “Ukraine shows all the signs of sliding into a failed state. Failed state. And that would be for Europe a disaster. We would have a failed state inside Europe.”
German MEP and veteran politician Michael von der Schulenburg: “If we start negotiating now... the first things we would have to accept that this is about security and not about territory. And that would mean that we have to admit it is NATO expansion which triggered the war…   And suddenly we have to admit that maybe the war started because of our behavior, because we didn't talk at the time with Russia, because we didn't take security concerns of Russia seriously.”

The classic Khrushchyovka apartment is rather tiny. Tens of thousands of these 5-story buildings were rapidly constructed across the Soviet Union using standardized designs. The buildings themselves could be erected remarkably quickly and made ready for occupancy in as little as two to three months. Apartments typically contain one-, two-, or three-bedrooms, ranging from 28 to 60 square meters (301–646 sq. ft.). The idea at the time was that these apartments would serve as a temporary, quick solution to housing needs, to be replaced by better housing within a few decades. Stayed in one for a couple of months on the fifth floor, with no elevators you get a little workout everytime you go up and down the stairs.
What does a real Soviet apartment look like? 🇷🇺🏠 A Russian girl shows her grandma’s apartment: a tiny kitchen, two fridges, a rotary phone and even a carpet on the floor.

Breaking news, indeed! Looks like regional states decided to take the issue of regional security in their own hands. The importance of this development can not be overestimated.
HRH Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Minister of Defense, leads the Kingdom’s delegation to the meetings that will be held today in Tehran, capital of Iran, between Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries and officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran, with participation of Field Marshall Asim Munir, Pakistani Chief of Army Staff and Ibrahim Kalin, Director of the Turkish National Intelligence. Representatives of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries will meet with the H.E. President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and H.E. the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Mohsen Rezaei. The visit comes as part of the continued efforts by the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries for de-escalation between parties involved in the ongoing crisis, and promoting dialogue and diplomatic solutions, in support of the mediation efforts carried out by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The visit underscore the pivotal role of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries in reinforcing regional security and stability, and working with all countries in the region to achieve that goal.

The Tu-160 is back in production.

Prof. Richard Wolff: ‘Russia🇷🇺 & China’s🇨🇳 goal was to be safely away from the DISINTEGRATION of the unipolar empire moment of the United States. They want to watch the United States IMPLODE on itself, unable to fight two wars at the same time. We are full of information in this country that one of the reasons Mr. Trump can't do what he would like to do in Iran is the US, doesn't have the munitions anymore. Well, that's another way of saying what every other empire that collapsed said in the final years of its collapse: it was overreaching. It was trying in too many ways to hold on to the empire against the resistance of too many people coming at them from too many directions. That's what Iran demonstrates now, in the most dramatic way. This relatively poor country that no one in the United States ever took seriously is in the position of blocking the American military from doing what nothing else in the United States can do, which is to bring them to heel. The Russians and the Chinese, but for sure the Chinese, their interest is: let's not get drawn into this, because it's an economic story. For the last 35 years, the economic growth of the GDP, the gross domestic product of China, was larger, two to three times larger than that of the United States. Therein, everything is understandable. They have time on their side. They've had it for the last 35 years, which is why they are the power they are now. The longer they can survive, the better the odds are getting that they will come through the decline of the Western Empire in a way that the Western Empire cannot do. And so I think what you're watching is you're watching the Chinese watching the West, and watching the West learn the lesson. Russia made the deal with China much earlier than the rest of them, and is going to be benefiting from it as it already is.’ Watch the full interview in the quoted post 👇 @profwolff

A small reminder of who Alexei Navalny truly was, before Western media portray him as a saintly martyr for democratic/liberal values. In reality, Navalny was a minor Russian neo-nazi who in the early 2000's filmed low-budget racist video clips equating muslims to cockroaches that needed to be eradicated with legal firearms. Somewhere between filming extremist videos and participating in nationalist marches (back when they were still legal in Russia), he caught the attention of the CIA and MI6 for his destructive potential in Russia. After studying alongside Juan Guaido at the Soros-sponsored "Yale Fellows Program," Navalny was poised to become the new face of the colored revolution in Russia, akin to those seen in Libya/Ukraine/Venezuela.......

🇷🇺Russia's embassy will reopen in 🇧🇫Burkina Faso, thirty-one years after its closure. The decision to reopen the embassy was reached during the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, where Pres Putin and his Burkinabe counterpart, Ibrahim Traoré, discussed the matter. Russian diplomats are now formally returning to Burkina Faso. In October, Burkina Faso signed an agreement with Russia for the construction of a nuclear power plant to increase the energy supply to the Sahel country where less than a quarter of the population has access to electricity. Meanwhile, Russian food aid is expected to arrive in Ouagadougou in the coming days, the envoy announced during the meeting with Burkinabe officials on Wednesday.
