Check out our latest, officially out now in @GeneticsGSA led by the amazing @dawnschen! Here, Dawn built on previous findings of female control of biased sperm usage to carefully dissect the role of octopaminergic signaling in Tdc2 neurons in this process: doi.org/10.1093/genetics/iya…

This is the culmination of what started as a preliminary experiment for my first rotation project back in 2014 at @ClarkLabCornell @CornellMBG, and it truly was the main driver that led to my current work in #Bioinformatics 🧬💻📊 at @NYUCVRC 💜.

Curious about what our lab's been up to lately? Check out the following 🧵 on where we'll be at #Dros21! First up, undergraduate Mika Matera-Vatnick is giving a platform (PgmNr #33) on some very cool results mapping female genetic variation in mating plug ejection time.

All right, as promised, we are compiling housing/storage resources Cornell grads are able to contribute to help our ugrad peers in response to the university asking them to leave campus in response to COVID19. Please share and add to it if you are able to! docs.google.com/spreadsheets…

Radical Clark lab undergraduate publishing research in modeling mate choice/sexual selection! 🤠💕
Bradley-Terry & Elo models are used to predict rank outcomes of pairwise contest & to calculate skill levels of players in games like chess. In our preprint we apply those to the “chess game of life” to estimate sexual selection from pairwise matings! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

My mind pretty much exploded the first time @AndyClarkCornel brought up the idea behind this paper. I was thinking about it for days afterward. Seriously, give it a read!

Fresh of the press our lab’s latest study! We wrangled some challenging & cool heterochromatic Y #genetics in #Drosophila to dissect the function of male-specific genes! All was done in collaboration with Mariana Wolfner and lead by talented @yhafezi
The Y chromosome is a unique challenge for genetic manipulation bc it is haploid, has tons of repeats, and no recombination. We report the first targeted reverse genetic study of the Y in Drosophila using CRISPR/Cas9 - out early in Genetics! @geneticsGSA genetics.org/content/early/2…
