Watching genocide unfold live: we know what is happening & can act. We're on the verge of a holocaust: more than half of people in Gaza are currently being starved. Waterloo Region hosts weapons companies/manufacturers aiding genocide - we must act now to stop this genocide.

Canada has opposed the U.S. embargo on Cuba for decades. But its recent abstention at the UN raises serious concerns about whether we're bowing to pressure from Trump. Canada must stand firm. Tell the government to vote to end the embargo. actionnetwork.org/letters/bc…

On October 28, the United Nations will vote to condemn the US embargo on Cuba. Every Canadian government since 1992 has supported the resolution. If Mark Carney is to make good on his call for a new global order, Canada must vote yes—and do much more. canadiandimension.com/articl…

Stephen Harper was so impressed by Mark Carney's CEO investment summit that he said he wishes he had come up with the idea himself. The former Conservative prime minister seemed to have nothing but praise in this speech for Carney.

What is happening in France, Albania, Spain, Italy and all over the world is capitalism in crisis. The old world is crumbling, and the ruling class is desperately trying to stay on the stage of history. This is a class war. Don’t let the reactionaries tell you otherwise.

Around four years ago, I was discussing the war in Ukraine with an Irish journalist on a balcony in Berlin. I told him that the West miscalculated and that NATO countries could not, in the long run, resolve the contradictions that this confrontation would unleash. Cracks would soon begin to emerge, and that, surely, was part of the calculus. He seemed aghast. He repeated that mantra — apparently mandatory for Western journalists — that Putin hoped for his “full-scale invasion” to succeed in three days, that NATO had now dramatically expanded its border with Russia, and that the West was more united than ever. I told him that we should speak again in a few years. We never did, but I wonder what he would say now. It is breathtaking how deeply Europe has transformed since then. The loss of affordable energy, now exacerbated by the NATO-backed US-Zionist war in Iran, is decimating its industrial base. In Palestine, Europe supported a colonial genocide to the hilt, destroying its political standing on the world stage. With two pillars of its hegemony in tatters, Europe’s final recourse is militarization. It has launched a rearmament drive comparable in scale to that which preceded the First World War, it is actively toying with the apocalyptic danger of nuclear war, it is decimating the social democratic compact to pay for the transition to a war economy, and it is deploying extreme violence against its citizens to secure these policies. European capital is on the back foot, and the objective conditions for fascism’s return to the political center are in place. It is clearer than ever that this crisis is only going to deepen, producing irreparable fractures in the edifice of Western power.
Ceux qui ont cherché à faire tomber la République auront à en répondre.

The Saudis broke the ceasefire in the first place and attacked the Houthis in a Yemeni airport. Condemnation only goes one way with this government
The Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in particular the strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, are abhorrent. There can be no justification for attacks on civilian infrastructure. No political or military objective can justify the deliberate targeting of innocent people. Canada condemns these reckless acts of violence in the strongest possible terms. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those killed and wish a full recovery to those injured.

The con-man Mark Carney told the Davos crowd that his government would apply the same standards to allies and rivals. Carney has not uttered a peep of criticism of Saudi attacks on Yemen, which have killed vastly more civilians than Ansar Allah has killed. Not one peep.
