After 4+ years at Synthesis, much of it leading engineering for Tutor, I've resigned. It was a blessing working with such a talented team on a category leading product. I will always cherish my time at Synthesis. Now it's time to forge a new path at @sage_teacher. AI teaching hasn't lived up to its promise...yet. We cracked it. If you want to follow along, hop on the waitlist at sageteacher.ai
Some news: I resigned as Head of Product for the Synthesis Tutor. Friday was my last day. I am VERY excited for what's coming next. Follow along: @sage_teacher and sageteacher.ai To date, no one has built a system that can generate reliable, interactive, visceral educational experiences. Text, images, even video -- these are all passive media. To LEARN you must DO. Sage is building that My time at Synthesis was a blessing, and the best education I could imagine. Deep gratitude to @chrisman and @josh_dahn for giving me the opportunity to build a first-of-its-kind product with crack team 🙏. I will be cheering for Synthesis to continue breaking new ground.

Last night a friend of mine asked me if I saw the apple announcement. He was super excited that they finally added a touchscreen. I was honestly surprised. Apparently some people really like the idea.
either apple is completely out of touch (ha) about what people do with their computers or all of us are way way too deep in an ai bubble

Still running an M1 Max with 64gb. It’s a champ but starting to show its age
Current Macbook is an M1 from 2021. I think this is a good time to upgrade. Who else is getting one?

I would’ve rather gotten more ram. This is dumb
We brought Touch to the Mac! From the all-new iPad mini to the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac... and now MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch, creators have new tools to do their best work yet.

Some fun shots from the 2026 NRL Hunter season The fun thing about this clip was how I edited it. I tried out @mikeysee’s Tandem video editing app. I basically gave it my folder of unedited shooting clips and told it to pick a handful of cool ones with both the DJI third-person cam and first-person scope cam. It synced them up, added some labels, made the scope cam overlays, etc. Pretty impressed! Just a couple back and forth exchanges with codex and out popped a video!

typical google > announce model that looks amazing > can't actually use model > once you can you realize it actually kinda sucks and isn't useful
Replying to @Google
Genie 4 incorporates and builds on capabilities from the Gemini family: Gemini Omni anchors simulations in real-world appearance and behavior, while other Gemini models provide the reasoning to maintain coherence and continuity. Here's what's new: ✨ Live steering: Use text prompts to change or add things in the world 🔊 Native audio: Hear ambient soundscapes, music, and interactive dialogue 🌊 Unprecedented realism: Experience a leap in visual details, from realistic physics to natural human movement 🧠 Gemini reasoning: Interprets prompts, tracks world state to remember what just happened, and plans multi-step events so scenes stay more coherent

do you guys understand how bad an increased tax proposal has to be to literally have your DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR rallying against it
The non-partisan tax foundation found that high income taxes hurt growth. It’s critical that Colorado voters reject Amendment 87 which would make Colorado the 9th highest taxed state. It’s not to late to vote No on amendment 87

Lots of demos out there you can click and tinker around with, which are great. But almost no kid is going to learn from just clicking around. They need a teacher that guides and constrains. That channels the interactions into something coherent and meaningful. The models' ability to generate an interactive environment is an amazing unlock, but it needs to be paired with structure and guidance. Sage is the only realtime agent that plugs directly into these interactive environments, and transmutes them into real learning.
Education is evolving But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be timeless

Seems right
Reasonably happy with the result of this test:

A virtual office where you can see who’s around and just walk up to people to start a video chat makes remote work dramatically better. We stuck with the only provider for years at multiple companies until the price hikes. Pointed 6.1 sol ultra + Reverse Engineer Everything at it. One day of background work later, we have our own version for a fraction of the cost.

I switch between codex and cursor for my work. Cursor needs to step up its computer use game. Codex is wayyy better at it.

Triple-pull/Tripod tips from top level shooter Matt Martini Yesterday I posted the video below shooting off my @MDTTAC triple-pull at the @nrlhunter Grand Slam. Even though I got first-round impacts, I didn’t feel steady or confident. Matt responded with some great tips in this video. Now I need to get out and practice!
I don’t feel confident shooting off the triple-pull yet. This is from Stage 3 of the @nrlhunter Grand Slam finale match. It had decent sized bobcats at about 360yds. The trickiest part of this stage was finding the second one. Thankfully we picked it up fairly quickly. Sometimes you just have to think - If I were an MD and dislike carrying steel up and down hills, where would I put it? Turns out that helped because the second one was just below the road kinda hidden in the shadows. Back to the triple pull - any tricks to get more steady? btw, follow me on IG. I post way more shooting content on there since it does way better there. same @.

The full library is now available to all users It's great. My kids love it. You can find it inside of the "Free Explore" mode for now. Probably it will graduate to its own fully fledged "environment" as it grows and volves. Let us know if you run into any issues or rough edges, I'm sure there are some yet to work out. Lots of great books. Rich and beautiful language and images. Kids benefit from exposure to high level writing, it's a shame how things have been dumbed down. Time to reverse the trend!
Sage's full library launching soon. Here is an excerpt of Sage reading George MacDonald's Photogen and Nycteris along with a student. In this case the student requested Sage to read it aloud, but he had a few questions for Sage about the language.

Sage offers many opportunities for students to personalize their experience. They can choose to paint anything, and Sage will help them out with a pencil drawing to get them started.

No they didn't. Their homicide rates in those countries have not decreased following their stricter gun laws. Canada just banned the sale of handguns a few years back and our homicide rate declined more than theirs since then lol.
Yall claim America is the “best country in the world” yet other countries have implemented gun laws that have SIGNIFICANTLY reduced gun violence but did not outright ban guns. If it works in other countries, why wouldn’t it work in the “best country in the world”? Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Switzerland, Germany. All SIGNIFICANTLY lowered gun violence without banning guns outright.

We've been testing out this reading mode at home and it's quite compelling. It's not like an audio book, where you can kind of tune out as it drones on. The reader turns the page, even if Sage is doing the narration (which is optional). But what is really cool is how you can ask questions right then and there, in the flow, clarifying language that may be unfamiliar or somewhat archaic (we prefer to stock the library full of books with rich prose), or whatever it might be.
