The Brewers have never won a World Series. Neither team in the ALCS has won one since 1948.
And somewhere, a grandfather is going to get to tell his grandkids, “I told you we’d win one someday.”
This is why we love baseball.

Twitter cleanser. To see JV's daughter running out and to see him overcome with emotion, how can you not love that moment.
Political parties want people to cheer for the logo, defend every bad player and hate the other team.
Maybe it’s time for a fantasy draft instead: take the best people from both sides and cut everyone who can’t perform.
Frankly, both rosters need work.
#2 George Washington.
Winning the Revolution made him famous.
Walking away made him indispensable.
Washington didn’t just help create America.
He made self-government believable.

We remember Abraham Lincoln as solemn, burdened and larger than life.
His friends remembered how hard he laughed.
And kept growing until he became the man America desperately needed.

FDR didn’t choose the Great Depression.
He didn’t choose the Dust Bowl.
He didn’t choose World War II.
History dealt him three nearly impossible hands.
He didn’t play them perfectly. But America was still standing when the cards were laid down.

They didn’t just invent an airplane.
They changed humanity’s relationship with distance, and taught the world that the horizon wasn’t a boundary.
It was an invitation.

Thomas Jefferson could see tomorrow.
He imagined a bigger, smarter, freer America & wrote the words generations would use to demand it.
The contradiction? He never lived up to those words himself.

Broadway made Alexander Hamilton famous again.
But if anything, Lin-Manuel Miranda sold his want short. Hamilton has one of the greatest “I Want” songs ever written: My Shot. But the real Hamilton didn’t just want his shot. He wanted every shot.

He chased thieves across the Badlands. He boxed in the White House. He protected 230 million acres of America. He inspired the teddy bear. He explored an unmapped river in the Amazon.
Some people live long lives. Theodore Roosevelt just lived more.

Every game eventually reaches the moment when somebody has to make the call.
Safe or out. Fair or foul. Everyone can argue, but someone has to have the authority to decide.
The Constitution created the Supreme Court. John Marshall made it matter.

James Madison was 5'4", barely 100 pounds, soft-spoken, and easy to overlook.
He also designed the basic framework of a government that more than 340 million Americans still live under today.
Sometimes the most influential person is the smallest one.

I knew the Neil Armstrong story before I started researching this one.
Then I found the 400,000 people behind Apollo, & a man who spent the rest of his life trying to convince everyone that the Moon landing wasn’t really about him.

All the shoulder massages from Mike Maddux in the world couldn’t fix the Angel bullpen.
You know Thomas Edison.
Light bulb. Inventor. Menlo Park. A thousand patents.
But I found while writing was much more fascinating: brilliant, obsessive, competitive, sometimes ruthless, & able to turn ideas into things ordinary people actually used.

Everyone knows the holiday, the speech, and the dream.
But Martin Luther King Jr. was so much more than one moment in Washington.
The arrests. The threats. Montgomery. Birmingham. Selma. Memphis.
We know the icon.
Today, meet the man.
