There are some parents that will drive six hours for a tournament but won’t drive ten minutes to a parent-teacher conference.
Let that one sit for a minute.

Ten months ago, Malik Washington publicly pledged his future to Maryland.
With Mike Locksley gone, the quarterback isn’t making that promise again. Sidney Stewart acknowledged he must reevaluate his future, too.

Well deserved and long overdue

When #Illini HC Bret Bielema was in high school, he thought he'd play college football at D3 Augustana. But his father, Arnie, encouraged him to chase the biggest opportunities possible.
Bielema came home after school and found a letter on his bed from his dad, who passed away this weekend.
It said, "What you conceive in your mind and believe in your heart you will achieve."
"I tattooed (the quote) on my calf when I was at the University of Iowa," said Bielema.
Arnie, who sold sporting goods, used his connections to help get Bret at Iowa football camps and be discovered.
Bielema would walk on at Iowa, become a team captain and play in the Rose Bowl. After his collegiate career, he started his coaching career at Iowa.
Bielema said, "I just think about where I am now, 56 years of age. The decision he helped me make when I was 18, without helping me make it, he let me kind of come to that decision, has affected my life forever."

An unparalleled run by the greatest to ever do it in college football
Funny and true
That 12 year old also needs to spend time at home on the weekends with his family instead of traveling the country at tournaments that line promoters pockets who are selling false college dreams. Less than 7% will play in college.
Indeed it is important!
John Harbaugh took over a last-place Giants team that had endured double-digit loss totals in eight of the past nine seasons.
Now they’re first in the NFC East and have matched their win total from last season.
Despite losing their starting QB, sack leader and leading tackler to injuries.
Coaching is important.

Fun note about @PTI: Everyday, Tony Kornheiser preps for the show by taking written, long-hand notes in cursive on a yellow legal pad — one page for each A block story and 1/2 page for each B Block topic.
These should be on-display in the @smithsonian in DC. #PTI25
