He’s eligible to sign with another team immediately but could be disciplined or placed on Commissioner Exempt List and prevented from playing — as happened recently with Terrion Arnold.
An NFL spokesman said the league is investigating the situation surrounding former Titans DT Jordan Elliott, who was released after he brought a gun to the team’s training facility. If there is a violation that’s found while he’s not on a team, Elliott could serve a suspension as the free agent that he now is.
Congrats to @JJWatt, one of the players I most enjoyed covering. He’s immensely deserving of his TV success.
J.J. Watt, now CBS's permanent replacement for Tony Romo, says he had a missed call on his phone Monday morning from David Berson: "And I'm thinking to myself, 'Ah, man. Missed call from the boss. Am I in trouble for potentially breaking Jim Nantz's hand on the broadcast on Sunday with our ball drill?' "
If you overslept or your coffee didn’t work properly, here’s a second chance to listen to our weekly NFL conversation.
.@WerderEdNFL on the Patriots vs Bears matchup on Thursday Night Football, the Jalen Hurts situation in Philly & JJ McCarthy being named the starter in NYC

Thought maybe CBS would wait to determine Troy Aikman’s availability but they commit to J.J. Watt.
Remember Jordan Love exploiting the Bears secondary deep two weeks ago in Packers 31-7 victory. Huge challenge for Dennis Allen.

Something to keep in mind about @eagles. Their next 7 games: H v. DAL, at WAS, H v. NYG, H v. PIT, at DAL, at ARI, H v. IND. Combined record of next 7 opp.: 16-24-2. Even without Hurts, it's way too early to wave the white flag. Especially in the godawful NFC East.
May God bless the soul of the courageous man whose life was taken as he protected his community, and provide for the wife and children whose lives have been shattered. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

#Broncos QB Bo Nix was asked if there was a mental hurdle still with his ankle:
"I'd be lying if I said no. ... I'm not scared. I'm not physically worried. I just think there's something to the sport. All guys, when they come back from an injury, it's just doing it one day at a time. That's part of the game, that's part of the process.
"I had surgery six months ago. It takes a while for things to fully re-engage and come back."

NFL fines Mike Vrabel, Aaron Glenn, and Nick Sirianni $250,000 each for conduct toward officials. But with the fines held in abeyance, if feels more performative than substantive. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

He was also a great friend to so many agents, myself included. A huge loss to the NFL community. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Murtha family today. RIP, Frank.
We also recall after their loss to the Ravens, the Cowboys seemed to have an opportunity for a winning streak with their next three games against Houston, Tampa Bay and Green Bay — a combined 1-8 at the time. The Cowboys just finished 1-2 against those teams.
With upcoming schedule, Cowboys have chance to get right but it's not about their opponents. It's about what they do to fix this ... stuff

Oh man….this is such sad news. Stosh and I never met in person but he was always kind and supportive whenever we communicated. Gave me opportunities with ESPN radio when I needed someone on my side.
My condolences go out to his wife, 5 kids and family. To his ESPN family as well, I know he was loved and respected there too.
Life is sadly too short, make sure you hug your people and tell them you love them.
