Jamie Davis’ narrow loss to U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, R-Baton Rouge, has given Louisiana Democrats hope they could unseat a slate of Republican statewide elected officials next year, including Gov. Jeff Landry. #lalege #lagov lailluminator.com/2026/11/05…

Great thread as always from @WinWithJMC Louisiana lawmakers/governor aren't up for re-election till next year. But Democrat Jamie Davis carried 8 state House seats held by Republicans: #lalege #lagov

When we return next week, we’ll get 218 signatures for Epstein Files Transparency Act II, which guarantees a vote. Survivors will be able to get their own records, State Attorneys General can prosecute crimes, and we can take the DOJ to court for keeping critical files hidden.⚖️

Well, Newt declares open season on Vance inside the GOP
The scale of the Republican defeat is so great that it makes the race for the GOP presidential nomination wide open. If the administration had won a big victory, Vice President J D Vance would have had an enormous argument to be the inevitable nominee. Now, with this go-slow strategy blowing up in Iran and his defense of Vivek Ramaswamy's horrible, inhumane ad featuring his opponent's mother attacking her own daughter, a good bit of the luster has come off the bloom. The number of people who want to draft Secretary of State Marco Rubio is staggering. In addition, Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, Ron DeSantis, Pete Hegseth, Glenn Youngkin, and a surprising number of people may decide this is their chance to take advantage of the chaos of the shocking defeat and seek to be the champion who can rescue the party and the country.

New: I spoke with Democrat Scott Colom at a campaign event just as he pulled his lead over GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde Smith to 1,138 votes in Mississippi—a state Trump carried by 23 points in 2024 “I’m confident” Colom told me

I would have voted more enthusiastically for her had I known! The STAAR test is a a scam and has taken over education to where teachers cannot even teach anymore. LOVE this!

@BlakeMiguezLA voted in favor of #lalege’s 2024 SB494 that allowed @LEDLouisiana to make the Meta deal and then made $50,000-$100,000 in stock dividends after (it per his congressional financial disclosure that started 1/1/25) #la06 disclosures-clerk.house.gov/…
A $10 billion data center came to one Louisiana parish without all the secrecy and sweeping tax breaks. So, did state and local leaders “give away the store” to get Meta? The finale of my @WWLTV series “Data Driven”: wwltv.com/article/news/inves…

Here is Rep. Virginia Foxx yelling “shut up” at journalists for asking about Republicans’ attacks on democracy. She just lost her seat in Congress.

Pope Leo XIV bringing the jokes meeting with Villanova and Notre Dame 😂: “Growing up on the south side of Chicago, we oftentimes heard, “Go Irish!” But, as you all know, Prevost graduated from Villanova. So the Pope doesn't take sides. Prevost has another opinion, but we won't do that now.”

If their party flips the chamber, Democrats on the House and Senate Armed Services Committees are planning wide-reaching investigations into the US war with Iran and lawmakers are coalescing around Hegseth as their top target. “He is the lowest hanging fruit because of the animosity that seems to be both from Republican and Democratic senators and staff,” a Democratic aide told CNN. “He is going to be investigated." w/ @AnnieGrayerCNN cnn.com/2026/10/30/politics/…

To speak honestly is one of our weapons, to be open, and to be clear. Not to play games with our partners. This is my rule of thumb. There is a lot of pressure on Ukraine at the moment, and of course I have to be louder. And I will be, because it's part of our defense strategy. We are not trying to be somebody else. If I feel that dangerous things are looming over Ukraine, I have to defend my country. And I do what I can, like our soldiers on the battlefield and people who work for Ukraine. And I, the President, have to use every format of diplomacy. From an interview with The Sun. (2/3)
