You must learn to reverse the polarity of the negative energy your best ideas will inevitably generate and turn it into positive, forward momentum.
I love this idea from @dhh:
All the best ideas that actually turn out to have an impact sound stupid at first.
“You've got to have a high tolerance for people telling you:
-What you're building is stupid.
-What you're building is ugly.
-What you're building is never going to work.
When I get that feedback, I know I'm onto something.
I’ve found that’s often true about products. You enter some domain and you think:
"Who's the best? Can I just copy them?I'll do a slight tweak."
That's not gonna work.
All the best ideas that actually turn out to have an impact sound stupid at first.
They're not intuitive.
That's where all the value has been locked up. It's locked up in this misconception about what people actually want, because most people don't know what they want.”

If DeepSeek were American it would be on every magazine cover.
Think about it. A small lab with a fraction of the compute ships a frontier-class model under MIT. Then it open sources its production inference engine, its kernels, its file system. Publishes 155 trillion tokens a day and $38 of revenue per GPU-hour. Raises $15B anyway.
In America that is a national hero story. Senators would be posting about it. Every podcast would call it proof that open source made the country stronger.
Instead it got banned from US federal systems, called a security threat and accused of distillation, sometimes in the same week it gave away more of its production stack than OpenAI ever did.
The code is the same either way. The weights are the same. Only the flag changed the reaction.
I dont care about the flag. I care that I can download it, read it and run it on my own cards. By that measure DeepSeek did more for American developers this month than most American labs did all year.

Marc Andreessen says the gap between what AI-native startups and incumbents think AI can do is the widest he’s ever seen:
"The AI-native early stage startups have just a completely different view on what they can do with AI than the typical incumbents in almost any industry, almost without exception."
"AI is just racing ahead in capability even week by week... There are going to be a lot of industries that are really up for grabs in a fundamentally more profound way than maybe has been the case in the past."
"The founders are gonna have a level of superpowers coming from the use of these tools and these technologies that they just simply haven't had in the past... Had I had Astra and Netscape in 1994, like, oh my God. Like, Ben, what would you and I have been able to do at Netscape?"
"Those entrepreneurs are gonna color way outside the lines. We already see this. They're not gonna think of themselves as like, 'I'm just a software company,' or, 'I'm just a hardware company,' or even, 'I'm just an AI company.'"

Today, a16z Crypto is becoming a16z Frontier.
Since joining a16z in 2013, @cdixon has focused on technologies that look futuristic well before they reach the mainstream. Those themes led to investments in Oculus, Skydio, Zipline, Coinbase, Solana, and Uniswap.
Frontier expands that mandate beyond crypto to back "outer planet" founders who are building new technologies and creating markets that may take years to develop.
Chris joins @pmarca, @bhorowitz, and @eriktorenberg to discuss why crypto has become part of the broader tech landscape, why Frontier fills a hole in the firm's architecture, and why they'd rather be too early than too late.
They also get into why the gap between AI-native startups and incumbents is the widest Marc has ever seen, how AI could pull forward 20 years of frontier technology, why stablecoins may become the way AI agents pay each other, how AI is breaking the internet's business model, and why today's 18-year-olds are about to become superhumans.

Someone showed me this new JS Library for dithering visualizations so I gave it to Hermes Agent, said make me a webpage full of demos for all the lesser known cool styles and components libraries out there.
In 20 minutes it did, and there's some amazing stuff it found. This webgl fluid library is so sick.

Something I think almost no one is considering is that by the time AIs are trustworthy enough and context aware and continuous enough to take a legit CEO position (I think something like 2028 or so), they will be 10x+ smarter than humans.
Their ideas and guidance will revolutionize every corporation that brings them on. Like, everyone gets Elon + level of executive team.

Fully agree with Mike that almost nobody is thinking about this! Superintelligence by 2028 will be so profound that its impact will far exceed AI advances since ChatGPT 3.5 ~4 years ago! It’s also the greatest democratizer of capability ever, by magnitudes more than anything else

FSD 14.3.12 has changed how I see trains.
I love high-speed rail, but let's get serious. On Sunday, my Tesla drove ~350 miles without me: Austin to Houston, and back.
The journey started in my driveway and ended in a parking spot at the arena, with a Buc-ee's stop.
Total time: 3.5 hours each way, and $15.65 round trip.
With HSR, it'd take me 30 minutes to get to a station, 20 minutes from the station, and ~1.5 hours on the train.
Total time: ~2.5 hours each way with some waiting, and no beef jerky.
Critically, one of these can happen this decade.
If there's a vote to wire the Texas Triangle together with high-speed rail, I will still vote for it... BUT I no longer feel deprived. Instead, I'm impatiently waiting for my vehicle to be treated like the detached train car it can be.
Once I don't have to legally pretend to be the driver, it'll be hard to argue that trains are even more convenient or efficient.
