BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

Benefits of remote work: -More free time from having no commute -Lower transportation expenses -Can live anywhere in the country -Spend more time with your family -Can work with people around the world -Don’t have to socialize with coworkers (be sure to get outside the house and socialize outside work hours if you do work remotely though) I don’t get why so many people are against it. In most cases, it’s a net benefit.
My strongest “vibes not evidence” belief is that remote work is a cancer that’s making (most) people miserable even though it seems better in the short term.

In the 60s, you could walk into an office, have no idea what the company did, demand a higher salary than the market rate, and get a job offer.
How easy was it to get a job for the boomer generation? Below is an excerpt from Steve Schwarzman's book, 'What It Takes'. Walking into DLJ in '69, he had no idea what the firm even did. Was offered a job immediately and demanded a pay higher than everyone else, which...worked somehow? The world was a different place back then. And, because thing are different now, use resources like us to help you in your job search journey. You're not alone, and our goal is to help you land that front-office investment job.

Yet they are expected to stay until 5.
The average office employee who works an 8 hour day is productive for just 2 hours and 23 minutes, according to a UK study.

Rescinding a job offer just because the candidate is friends with an employee is absurd. Assuming the candidate is qualified, that should not be a problem.
