macOS用テキストエディタの @CotEditor 用に、Markdownのセクション文字数カウントを行う支援ツール「Section Count for CotEditor」を作りました。 書籍などの長文を執筆する際、章・節・項といった階層で書き進めていくことが一般的ですが、「この章全体で今何文字？」ということをさっと把握したくなります。あるセクションに含まれる「子階層も含めて」、文字数をカウントしたいんですね。 というわけで、最前面にあるCotEditorの編集画面を監視して、セクションの文字数を表示する常駐アプリにしました。かなり複雑になりそうと思いましたが、Codex（5.5）と相談しながら進めたら意外とあっさり仕上がりました。

macOS用テキストエディタの @CotEditor のように、スクリプトで機能を簡単に追加できるアプリは、バイブコーディングのネタに向いているかも。作業中に「この機能が欲しい」と思ったら、Codexなどにお願いするだけでいい。 というわけで、現在行のMarkdownリンク（Webページだけでなくファイルも可）を開くAppleScriptを作ってみました。

先日CotEditorプロジェクトの「コンタクト」ページを見ていて一文に目が止まりました。CotEditorは2004年にnakamuxuによって生み出され、2010年以来はオープンソース化されています。2004年？… 20年前？？驚いた。自分の中では7−8年しか経っていないように感じていたけれど、よく考えてみるとたしかにそうだ。20年前(！)に始まったんだな。
