They’re just a big victim of capitalism, and shareholder pressure despite being a privately held
All the loot boxes and in game currency were Timi’s idea, Pokémon would never charge a monthly subscription on top of microtransactions. Famously, little game publishers/license holders have no control over these things.
So sad, it’s almost like this business model of building an audience, extracting their funds and shutting service down is the whole business model here

It’s so weird how close Rayman has come to being in Smash.
My head canon is that they were planning on it but the Legends multiplatform delay pissed Nintendo off
