1 hard boiled egg? Perfect.
Fried eggs? Just two and I'm good.
Scrambled eggs? Three and I'm still hungry.
Deviled eggs? 47 please and thank you.
Egg logic makes no sense.

Today my little girl asked what happens when pets die.
I told her that I don't know for certain, but I do know that God is good and that he loves us and always does what is right.
Even for adults, this is an appropriate response to many questions.

250 years ago today Adam Smith gave the world a fantastic insight.
That order, cooperation and prosperity are not ordered from above by priests or chiefs but emerge from the social interactions of ordinary people.
It’s the most revolutionary and benign idea ever proposed.

The resurgence of religion is becoming evident even on secular university campuses.
“Announce a course with ‘religion’ in the title, and you will have an overflow population,” writes law professor Stanley Fish.
“Announce a lecture or panel on ‘religion in our time’ and you will have to hire a larger hall.”

In the name of the holy child, Jesus, I call upon you this Christmas Day to cast care to the winds, and trust in God: to remember that the one gift promised without reserve, to those that ask it, is the gift of the Holy Spirit: the spirit of the child Jesus.

In my forthcoming book on happiness, I explain the difference between positive and negative pride, which in French are captured by fierté vs. orgueuil. Most people do not have the epistemic humility to say "sorry I was wrong." They would rather chop off their heads before admitting to being wrong. Therein lies the cardinal sin of pride (in the negative sense of the term). Many of life's conflicts stem from this inability to admit to any wrongdoing. "I'll die before I admit that I was wrong." Many of the people involved in the current Hotez-Kennedy exchange can never admit to being wrong. Regrettably, I have become estranged from family members who would rather die than ever admit to being wrong. This is why in my forthcoming book, I discuss the "love is humble" maxim. It takes humility to go up to your spouse, child, parent, stranger, pet, and say: "I'm sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive me." The interlocutors in these public debates would immediately gain the public's trust if they were to say: "We were correct about X, Y, and Z, but oh boy did we screw it up with A, B, and C." Instead, everyone digs into their anchored positions and refuse to concede a millimeter. Pride kills truth. Pride kills relationships. Pride kills decency.

It's telling that so many conservative Christians could not recognize a statement ("obedience to God's law can be a way to rebel vs God") that expresses the classic law-gospel distinction, that obedience can be one of the two ways to reject the gospel- legalism and antinomianism.
