Early man walked away as modern man took control
Their minds weren't all the same, to conquer was his big goal,
So he built his great empire and slaughtered his own kind,
Then he died a confused man, killed himself with his own mind

The Ubuntu 24.04 support drop is thanks to the native builds requiring some newer dependencies. Anyhow, there’s more to this Ghostty release than that.

‼️ The git, curl and python3 in macOS still trust compromised eMudhra certificates, 11 days after Apple was told.
Anyone can recover their keys, so an attacker on your network could pose as GitHub and feed you code.
Researchers say macOS 27.2 even wiped fixes applied by hand.
I mean... I do give @AnthropicAI a credit for being honest. "Buy out IPO, it might kill us all" #AI #LLM

Someone ported Haiku (the open source BeOS clone) to run on a Raspberry Pi 4.
Entirely with AI. With one prompt.
“Three days after the first prompt the Pi boots the regular Haiku desktop from its SD card or from the network.”
Including “OpenGL, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.3 on the V3D GPU through Mesa”, three different web browsers, and Photocraft (the Adobe Photoshop clone created by AI).
“I asked the agent it to deliver a working version of Haiku on Pi4 end-to-end without ANY manual intervention. Starting with just one prompt. The agent had to download sources, figure out build system, figure out qemu setup, figure out pushing images to the test rig, implement changes, testing… and it worked!”

I believe what we are seeing in @greeleygov when it comes to @Flock_Saftey. If the data is reliably being deleted and not used (anywhere), that's a start

Oh man, I know I consume too much media when in playing @masseffect 2, I run into Kal'Reegar and immediately knew @adam_baldwin was the voice actor lol
And as a note, I'm a long time #Linux, techie & full-stack web dev. I noticed this Github repo lists @claudeai as a collaborator. I think some of these vibe coded apps are okay, it should be mentioned in the README
I could see how AI/LLMs are helping a generation of young coders

A privacy-first DNS resolver just chose to leave an entire country rather than lie to its users.
Quad9 is shutting off its free DNS service in France on November 24, after a French court ordered it to block domains that BeIN Sports claimed were facilitating sports piracy.
Quad9 refused.
"We categorically refuse to alter or lie to you about the DNS responses you receive in a way that opposes your expectations."
The court had actually reduced the fine to just €1,000 per day. Quad9 still walked away. Because the real problem was not the fine. It was the precedent.
Complying would mean either applying French copyright law to Quad9's global DNS infrastructure, or using geo-blocking methods that Quad9 considers technically unreliable and ethically compromised. Either way, the integrity of the service breaks.
This is what it looks like when a privacy tool takes its mission seriously. Most services would have quietly blocked the domains and moved on. Quad9 chose to exit instead 👏
