Due to the widespread post-hurricane power-outages affecting the area where @d_n_keane lives, there will be no new podcast on Monday, 30 September. We hope that power will be swiftly restored and that we will have a new episode for you on 7 October!

We are three weeks away from @CritReadings beginning the summer special on Sir Thomas Malory's LE MORTE DARTHUR. We hope that you'll pick up a copy of Field's recent edition (or Vinaver's 1970s ed.) and join us over ~14 weeks. Every episode is free, without ads, as always!

With @d_n_keane, I to-day recorded our final @CritReadings episode on Antony and Cleopatra. What a brilliant experience it has been reading the play with someone who appreciates it as he does. Proof (if it were needed) that literature is best taught by those who love it!

Unfortunately, @d_n_keane is a bit under the weather this weekend and unable to record. Get well soon, Drew! Our next episode will release on 15 April. In the meantime, feel free to catch up on our full back catalogue!

Happy birthday today to Amy Lowell (9 February 1874 – 12 May 1925), one of the great imagists of the early XXth century. There will be a new @CritReadings podcast covering her poetry on Monday!

@CritReadings Thank you for giving this gentle push to finally pick up this work. I loved reading slowly through the first four chapters, and I’m very excited to hear your first discussion of it. #MobyDick

It’s still very early in Moby Dick. If it’s something you have wanted to read, I can’t recommend enough reading along. The first episode was so great and opened the first chapters up to me even further.

If you’re a college graduate and you aren’t familiar with these poets, you should feel a fair bit of shame and regret, and perhaps even anger at those who miseducated you. If you would like to redress the situation, the @CritReadings podcast will help you a great deal. – at Lexington, VA
For many years I've asked college freshmen if they recognize the following names. I'd tell them they were Eng writers. In a class of 18: Milton (1 or 2) Pope (nobody) Keats (2 or 3) Tennyson (nobody) Browning (nobody) Wordsworth (2 or 3) Spenser (nobody) Donne (maybe 1)

WRJ Barron’s parallel translation. I didn’t give Middle English the attention it deserved at Uni so took twenty years to discover that, of course, it’s an extraordinary work of beauty and humor. (Afterwards I listened to @CritReadings excellent analysis too, which also helped.)

I listened to this episode last evening and have gone back to read Shadows in the Water multiply times. What a beautiful ingenious poem -- simultaneously modern (the split self), Metaphysical, and Romantic. poetryfoundation.org/poems/5…
