The people have taken to the streets to demand their money back. And rightly so.
This is the model Milei and the rest of the Epstein class are pushing. This could happen ANYWHERE. Best to save in physical gold and physical silver, imo.

🇵🇾 Chaos on the streets as Paraguay’s largest digital bank collapses
Nearly 3 million customers affected as the country faces a major political and financial crisis.
Paraguay’s Central Bank (BCP) seized Ueno Bank, the country's largest digital lender, after its solvency ratio collapsed to less than half the legal limit.
Central Bank President Carlos Carvallo resigned at the request of President Santiago Peña. Carvallo previously chaired the finance company that evolved into Ueno Bank, drawing heavy criticism over regulatory blind spots and conflicts of interest.
The Specialized Unit for Economic Crimes and Anti-Corruption ordered the detention of eight high-level executives and figures tied to the bank, including founder and majority shareholder Miguel Vázquez and Ueno Bank President Juan Manuel Gustale.
The intervention completely froze Ueno Bank’s digital app, credit cards, and transfer capabilities. This has locked out roughly 3 million users, an estimated 60% of Paraguay's adult population, leaving many with no immediate way to access their money.
The state health and pension fund (IPS) has an estimated $380 million in public retirement funds invested in Ueno Bank.
Angry citizens, savers, and pensioners flooded the streets of the capital and gathered outside closed branches, demanding their cash and chanting for political accountability.

🔴 Au Paraguay, près de la moitié de la population ne peut plus toucher à son argent après la chute d'une banque.
Mardi, la Banque centrale du Paraguay a pris le contrôle d'urgence d'Ueno Bank, 5e banque privée du pays : retraits, virements et paiements par carte sont gelés pour ses près de 3 millions de clients, dans un pays de 6,5 millions d'habitants.
En cause, des crédits accordés sur simple signature à des sociétés liées aux actionnaires de la banque, et 8 personnes, dont le PDG, se sont rendues à la police.
Selon les autorités, l'assurance dépôts protégerait intégralement 97 % des clients, mais les gros déposants et l'État, qui avait confié entre 800 et 850 millions de dollars de fonds publics à Ueno, restent fortement exposés.
Le président Santiago Peña, 4e actionnaire de la banque jusqu'en mars 2025 et visé par des manifestants, a demandé la démission du président de la Banque centrale, et c'est désormais Liana Caballero, nommée par intérim, qui doit piloter la résolution de l'affaire Ueno Bank.

• El comercio de todos los bonos de Ueno ha sido suspendido
• $380M del fondo de pensiones estatal están atrapados, junto con dinero de la empresa estatal de energía y la represa de Itaipú
• 2 de cada 3 pagos con tarjeta en grandes tiendas pasaban por Ueno, y la principal asociación de importadores de Paraguay dice que el comercio minorista ahora está "semi paralizado"
Los clientes solo pueden recuperar hasta $1,700 por ahora, sin fecha dada.
La repercusiones políticas son igual de grandes.
El jefe del banco central, quien solía dirigir Ueno, ha renunciado. El presidente Peña canceló un viaje al extranjero para lidiar con la crisis, y las autoridades han ordenado la detención de 8 ejecutivos bancarios.
La ira ahora ha llegado a las calles y se están empezando a levantar protestas generalizadas…
El banco central dice que esto es algo aislado.
Pero en octubre, los 14 bancos privados de Paraguay ya le habían pedido que informara sobre la solvencia de otros prestamistas.
