‘CLAYFACE’ director James Watkins added the club sequence in the third act to Mike Flanagan’s script so Matt Hagen could discover and experience the “dark glee” of his powers:
“It came to me quite late in the process. I really wanted to beef up Matt’s journey upstairs [to confront mobster Markos Szabo]. I kept talking about capturing the feeling of Robin Hood movies, or a film like El Cid, where they storm the castle,” Watkins says. “I also wanted to show Matt discovering and experiencing the dark glee that comes with his powers. He’s been on quite a tough ride to that point, and I wanted to give the audience permission to enjoy the payback.”

Peter Safran confirms DC Studios has discussed several potential projects with Alan Ritchson:
“We talked about a couple things, but nothing that’s come to fruition at this point. I think he’s great.”
Safran also says he thinks there’s a lot more depth to Ritchson than people might have seen.

Matthew Lillard says his mystery character in ‘MAN OF TOMORROW’ is not from the comics:
“It’s a very James Gunn moment. So, I wouldn’t worry too much about finding him in the comics.”

Robert Pattinson says he’s “so happy” Steven Soderbergh will complete filming on ‘THE BATMAN PART II’:
“It’s incredibly generous of him – and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless. I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we’re almost done. So for someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.’ And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”

My ‘CLAYFACE’ review 🫠
First off, CLAYFACE is a unique film and a very interesting experience. It hardly feels like a DC film until the end, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s a great body-horror thriller.
Right off the rip, I want to say DC found a keeper with Tom Rhys Harries. The man can act very well. He put on an incredible performance as Matt Hagen/Clayface and deserves his flowers! Naomi Ackie also put on a good performance. Overall, a solid cast.
I was a little worried during the first 10 minutes of the film, as the quality felt poor, but the second act was very good and the third act was amazing!
I was really rooting for Matt in the beginning, especially when his life got completely destroyed, but then he went too far by killing his best friend and became consumed by anger and vengeance as he lost his mind, which was badass.
The final full formation of Clayface at the end was sick, and I loved it. I just didn’t like parts of the face. The ending also confused me a little bit, but I understood it with the help of @RoyalMaj3sty.
Overall, a very good film and a great step in the right direction for building the DCU. A phenomenal addition to the DCU’s Batman rogues gallery. I hope to see Tom’s Clayface again soon in ‘THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD’! James Watkins is a very solid director. They did an amazing job with the very low budget they had and should be proud!
7.5/10
