We’re launching something I've wanted for DC area sports fans for a while. Thrilled to co-found The District Standard - created around a simple idea: great sports stories are everywhere in this region, and they deserve to be told.

When the field gets short, #Commanders WR Stefon Diggs shows up. 5 targets at or inside the 20. 4 touchdowns. Amon-Ra St. Brown has the same 4 red zone TDs, on 16 targets. JSN and CeeDee Lamb lead all WRs with 5, on 12 and 14. 📊: NFL Pro, nflverse | #RaiseHail

"If you watch this player since 2024 and you don't think that's a quarterback you want in your building if he's healthy, I don't know what to tell you. You're not a ball knower." Grant Paulsen wasn't hearing it on the JD5 criticism. You can want more from him and still know he's the guy. Franchise QB in Sharpie, or still in pencil for you? 👇 🎥: Grant & Danny (@GrantPaulsen) on @1067theFan | #RaiseHail

Was off my phone all day. Deleted bc people took it as a quote and I got a bunch of texts when I got back to my phone. The actual quote was: “So coming out of that, I like our fight and our intensity to match our levels of execution and play like we're capable of for all four quarters. There's been this half and that half. I know there's always ebbs and flows of the game and talked about that to the team, but specifically what needs to get done to go win the game”

The Wizards jumped 5 spots to No. 15 in @NBCSports' power rankings this week 📈 @basketballtalk's favorite stat from opening week: the win over the Bucks put Washington above .500 for the first time since November 28, 2022. Almost four years since the Wizards were over .500. We'll take it 🧙‍♂️ 🔗 Full article in the replies 👇 #ForTheDistrict

Is Jayden Daniels the problem for the 1-4-1 #Commanders? Beltway Football's JP Finlay and Mitch Tischler aren't buying it. JP opened by saying anyone who thinks Jayden has been the problem is "insane," and pushed back on the screen-grab takes about his fourth-down throws in San Francisco. Then Mitch took it further. Coming off a Monday night where JD5 threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers against a good Niners defense, he called the national narrative around him wild. He pointed out the talent around Jayden is a step below what the other QBs in his draft class have, and the O-line has only gotten worse as the season has gone on. "Teams are figuring out, hey, we just blitz these guys and they are SOL." My two cents: I'm with them. JD5 has been sacked nine times in two games since coming back, and he still hasn't thrown a pick this season. The quarterback isn't what's sinking this team. That said, not all of it is on the help. Even under pressure, you can't throw it away on fourth down, and in Year 3, the situational stuff has to get cleaned up no matter who's blocking. Jayden knows that, and I am confident that he will clean it up. Is the heat on JD5 fair, or is he the one guy keeping this offense afloat? 🔗 Link to full video in the replies 👇 🎥: @JPFinlayNBCS and @Mitch_Tischler on @BeltwayFootball (@MonSportsNet) | #RaiseHail

"That's not normal." DQ on Sonny Styles in coverage. #Commanders HC Dan Quinn and @LoganPaulsenNFL went to the 49ers tape for three Sonny plays: a square tackle in space, a third-down breakup on Mike Evans that had DQ comparing his range to Fred Warner's, and Sonny dropping into coverage on Brandin Cooks. Six games in, the No. 7 pick has an interception, four passes defended, a sack and a forced fumble. The rest of the NFL has a problem. ☀️ 🎥: @Commanders | #RaiseHail

Bye week well spent. Sonny Styles headed back to Ohio State to visit his All-American tree in Buckeye Grove, and he brought the pup 🐶🌳 Safety turned linebacker turned captain turned top-10 pick. Not a bad resume for a guy who got to campus at 17. 🎥: Kaiahenderson2 on TikTok | #RaiseHail

How far can #Commanders rookie Drew Stevens kick it? His NFL long is already 57, one yard shy of the 58-yarder he hit at Iowa to tie the school record. Add a 55 in his debut and a 51 on Monday Night Football, and that’s three makes from 50+ six games into his career. 🎥: @NFL | #RaiseHail

7 years ago today, the World Series came back to DC for the first time since 1933. Chad Cordero to Brian Schneider for the first pitch, two of the 2005 originals. A sea of red at Nationals Park. Even Buzz Aldrin showed up. 86 years of waiting, and DC finally got its October night. ⚾️ 📸: @Nationals | #Natitude

"They like to downplay and dismiss special teams." Brian Mitchell got real with London Fletcher about the Hall of Fame wait, and you can hear how much it's eaten at him. He's second all-time in all-purpose yards, behind only Jerry Rice, and nobody in NFL history has more kickoff or punt return yards. Devin Hester got in two years ago. The door is open for returners. @ProFootballHOF, it's time. 🎥: @Commanders | The Player's Club w/ London Fletcher (@LFletcher59), Santana Moss (@EIGHTTODANINE) & Shawn Springs Guest: Brian Mitchell (@BMITCHLIVE30) #RaiseHail
