A 12-year old assaulted an Air Cadet officer so badly he’s unable to walk. 12. He should be tried as an adult and his parent(s) or legal guardian(s) responsible for him should be charged as well. Disgusting behaviour and absolutely abhorrent parenting.

Captain Ken Kunkel, pictured on the left, has been identified as the cadet supervisor who was the victim of an aggravated assault on November 1st. Kunkel is currently in the hospital with a spinal injury. Capt. Ken Kunkle is the Commanding Officer of the 826 Gryphon Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, based in Binbrook, Ontario. Estela Quintanilla, pictured on the right, as well as two unidentified male minors, were the alleged perpetrators of the violent attack. Quintanilla did not know any of the other parties in the altercation. Quintanilla and a 12-year-old male are facing charges of aggravated assault. The 11-year-old male cannot be charged because under Section 13 of the Criminal Code of Canada, the minimum age of criminal responsibility is 12 years old. Leading up to the assault, two cadets were doing a poppy drive on Sunday at a mall when the two unidentified males assaulted them by honking a compressed air horn in their ears and faces. Air horns can easily produce sounds exceeding 120 decibels. Close-proximity exposure can cause immediate and permanent hearing loss or eardrum trauma. A compressed air horn can be legally classified as a weapon if it is used to intimidate or assault someone. The cadets reported what had happened to their supervisor, Capt. Kunkel. Hearing what happened, Capt. Kunkel responded and followed the males into a nearby Mandarin restaurant to prevent the alleged male aggressors from fleeing before police could arrive. According to the Hamilton Spectator, "A struggle then ensued over one of the youths' backpacks as the commander tried to keep them from fleeing until officers arrived, according to Const. Trevor McKenna. The boys, in turn, 'snatched' his keys and lanyard." At this point, Quintanilla is alleged to have tripped Capt. Kunkel. As he lay defenseless on the ground, the male aggressors reportedly began to punch Capt. Kunkel and stomp on his head. All parties involved in the aggravated assault then fled the scene of their crime. The alleged male aggressors were found nearby at another establishment, where they were causing a disruption. They were throwing around objects inside a retail store. The police found them when they responded to a call about their criminal conduct in the store. It is unknown whether or not the cadets sustained injuries in the initial alleged compressed air horn assault. Quintanilla could not be reached for comment. Further reporting will be done about this story this evening, streaming live tonight at 7 PM EST. A close family friend has set up a fund to assist Ken Kunkel and his family with his very serious injuries. 🔗 to the fundraiser and the Hamilton Spectator article in the comments.

In reference to the CIC who was assaulted and is likely permanently incapacitated... 1. He's a commissioned officer, cadet officer or not. 2. He was injured in the execution of his duties. He should be entitled to full benefits... A. Disability Benefits (Pain and Suffering Compensation) B. Critical Injury Benefit C. Income Replacement Benefit (IRB) I hope his family is in communication with the powers that be.

No province—not Quebec, not New Brunswick—should receive a penny of federal transfer payments if it refuses to develop its natural resources. New Brunswick’s refusal to develop its massive shale gas reserves while relying on federal transfers (largely funded by Alberta and Saskatchewan’s resource revenues) for 40% of its provincial budget is pure hypocrisy.

Cochrane Willful omissions yet again! Once again, David Cochrane on Power & Politics introduces Ian Bremmer as simply “the president of the Eurasia Group” No mention that Bremmer’s firm employed Diana Fox Carney (Mark Carney’s wife), Gerry Butts, and MP Evan Solomon. No mention of the million-plus in untendered Liberal government contracts Bremmer: “Well, it is the economy, stupid… They have generally been hits against incumbents… This is all a hit on incumbents.”Governments fall over cost of living. Carney stayed upright with CBC’s endless “Trump, Trump and more Trump” election distraction Selective disclosure isn’t disclosure. Willful omission of material ties between the guest and the government CBC depends on for funding and survival Cash. Friends. Coverage. The pattern continues @brodiefenlon @CBCOmbud @cbcnews
Once again, CBC's Power and Politics doesn't disclose the boss of Carney's wife Diana Fox Carney, or Evan Solomon or Gerry Butts... or his Eurasia's untendered government contracts for a million plus... Just "For more analysis on the war, I'm joined now by Ian Bremmer. He's the founder and president of the Eurasia Group. And Gzero Media" Selective disclosure isn't disclosure @brodiefenlon

Surely you can’t be this serious & outraged while your gov handed out 116 CDN visas to Russian born hockey players this year, including 24 for junior aged players who are in Canada playing for teams in the CHL & at CDN universities because we know you’re not a hypocrite looking to just make a symbolic gesture right?
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivers a blunt message to Russia: “You cannot bomb Ukrainian cities and then send your junior players to Alberta to play hockey as if you were civilised people. No Russian or Belarusian teams at the World Junior Championship. Not under your flags. Not under any other flags. Period.”

THIS DAY IN CANADIAN MUSIC HISTORY November 4, 2001 — Toronto’s legendary El Mocambo nightclub marked the end of an era with a final night under longtime music booker Dan Burke, following the sale of the historic Spadina Avenue venue. Located at 464 Spadina Avenue, the El Mocambo had been a fixture of Toronto nightlife since the 1940s, becoming one of Canada’s most celebrated live music clubs during the 1970s. Its famous neon palm tree sign was recognized by generations of concertgoers. The club hosted an extraordinary collection of musicians, including Ronnie Hawkins, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, April Wine, Blondie, Elvis Costello and countless Canadian bands. But its most famous nights came on March 4 and 5, 1977. The Rolling Stones performed two intimate shows under the name “The Cockroaches,” with Canadian rockers April Wine sharing the bill. Some of the performances were recorded for the Stones’ Love You Live album, released later that year. By the late 1990s, music booker Dan Burke had helped revitalize the struggling venue with alternative music, punk, electronic dance nights and emerging artists. That chapter came to a dramatic conclusion on November 4, 2001. Burke organized a two-floor farewell show, but the evening ended in confrontation with the new ownership. He was reportedly handcuffed and removed by police. The El Mocambo’s story didn’t end there. The venue continued through several ownership changes, closures and renovations, eventually reopening after a major restoration under businessman Michael Wekerle. Its famous palm tree still stands as a symbol of Toronto’s live music history. Did you ever catch a show at the El Mocambo? Who did you see? #ElMocambo #TorontoMusic #CanadianMusic

Canada's money laundering watchdog got its report card from the Auditor General. It FAILED. Police flag dirty money. FINTRAC takes nearly 4 months to send the intel. Half the officers surveyed said it arrived too late to be useful. 36,000 banks, casinos and mortgage lenders to oversee, and more and more of it is self-reported. The AG flagged the same problems back in 2004. 11 years of Liberal government. Criminals move money in minutes, while Ottawa takes months, eh? 🇨🇦

I used to view @UBC as one of Canada’s top universities. They were actually once a client of mine. Boy, was I ever wrong.
The Galloway trial has offered a stunning window into the world of academic misconduct at UBC. A professor admitted on the stand to approving the incomplete thesis of Steven Galloway's accuser, allowing the woman to somehow finish her MFA program with an A+. Then, the professor said she rewrote the UBC creative writing department's policies such that the accuser's incomplete thesis would have met the criteria for completion. nationalpost.com/opinion/jam…

The boy who committed the assault and stomped on the victim’s head, leaving him unable to walk, should be tried as an adult. In a just world, the assailant’s family would cover the costs of the victim’s rehabilitation and care.

🇨🇦 DEAR CANADIANS OBSESSED WITH AMERICAN POLITICS: A friendly reminder. You are not an American citizen. You don’t vote in American elections. You don’t elect the American president. Yet some of you follow Washington more closely than Ottawa and know more about Trump than your own MP. Meanwhile, back home: 🏠 Housing remains unaffordable. 💸 Taxes consume a substantial share of your income. 🏥 Healthcare wait times remain a serious concern. 🛒 Groceries keep draining household budgets. 💰 Government debt continues to grow. And somehow, every Canadian problem becomes Donald Trump’s fault. Here’s a revolutionary thought. America’s president is responsible for governing America. Canada’s prime minister is responsible for governing Canada. Yes, American policies affect us. Trade, tariffs and foreign policy matter. But they cannot explain away every domestic policy failure. You can dislike Trump without making him your entire personality. You can support Trump without treating him like Canada’s prime minister. And you can disagree with both without losing your mind. Canada needs citizens who scrutinize Ottawa as passionately as they obsess over Washington. Because the politicians who actually control much of your taxes, healthcare, housing policy and public spending are right here at home. 🇨🇦 Stop treating American politics like a spectator sport while Canadian politics determines your standard of living. #Canada #cdnpoli
