Beautifully put. If you're not making British lives better as a British politician, what on earth are you doing?

“The riots in France are yet more evidence that the global liberalism pursued by successive British and European governments has been a catastrophic mistake. In a few generations, our political class has committed a nation-altering blunder of epic scale, and in doing so, it has surrendered the hard-won achievements of centuries." This intervention is a very welcome development. This cannot go on indefinitely. Not only costing the public purse an inordinate amount which we can ill afford, but more importantly, the people of the Garvaghy Rd deserve & NEED to get back to normality
Welcome this development, the provision for which the SDLP has been highlighting throughout this crisis. Time for Garvaghy residents to be allowed to return to normality, for Stormont to get on with addressing public services & all of us get back to the work of reconciliation.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. The National Police Memorial Service is being held in Belfast today, paying tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for defending the rule of law. At the same time nationalists in Northern Ireland are participating in an unlawful protest and blocking a road. Ministers are in breach of their pledge of office. That stands in stark contrast to the dignity and patience displayed by Portadown District who have a lawful determination that they should be allowed to walk along the Garvaghy Road. The rule of law must be upheld however long that takes.

If it’s non-competitive, it should be nationalised. The market works by having competition drive efficiency. But without competition, it only drives greed. It’s time to nationalise utilities and make them state-run. 🇬🇧

Hey 👋 @JohnSwinney Why should IRA victims 'move on' when the SNP won't move on from the independence referendum? #FMQs

The SDP says NO to separatism. Interim Party Leader Ross Baglin has issued a statement: "Governments for the last thirty years have operated within the Blairite settlement - a toxic mix of globalism, Europhilia, identity politics and human rights law, all of which are combining to tear the UK apart.  This latest move - which allies the SNP and Plaid Cymru with Sinn Féin - is yet another step toward the disintegration of our nation resulting from this sorry experiment. The last thing this country needs is more preening politicians of the exact same stripe, hungry for more power, status and resources.  We do not need more government.  We need good government, a patriotic British state working in the national interest."

This past Monday, we issued our Notice of SDP Party Leader Election. Party members have a month from that date to be nominated, after which a campaign period follows. We look forward to much discussion and debate in the party and beyond as candidates declare and set out their vision for the SDP and the future of Britain. The voting will begin in mid November. @SDPhq

We need to end the snobbery around not going to university. Trades, practical skills and every job that serves the community deserve the same respect. That’s why our policies encourage massive investment in skills here at home, rather than relying on hiring from abroad. 🇬🇧

The European Court of Human Rights does not work for Britain anymore. What was once set up to help those fleeing conflict in Europe has led to all of Asia and Africa having the right to come to our shores and claim asylum, with only a portion being from genuine conflict zones, with cultures far different to ours, and many safe countries passed through. It is time we pulled out and wrote laws that make sense for Britain. 🇬🇧

Our party is currently in a stage of change it has not seen in almost a decade, but whatever comes next, our core aims remain the same. Improve the living standards of the British people. Make choices for the future, not just today. Preserve our British way of life and identity. It’s that simple. No other party currently offers this, and we will continue to fight for this until the end. 🇬🇧

The Falklands are British, their people identify as such and are no different to anyone on the mainland. We are the only party willing to do the defence investment to maintain this reality. 🇬🇧🇫🇰

We're in beautiful Clacton again, meeting residents who've already voted SDP - as well as Tory and Labour voters who are excited to find a better party. Don't tell Nige, but we're even speaking with Reform voters who have had enough of the shenanigans now. If you're in Clacton, Frinton or Walton this afternoon, come and say hello! #CloustonForClacton
