💬 𝗤𝗨𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗦 - Andoni Iraola on Brighton having more possession:
“I always said, whoever controls the game is whoever controls the chances. It's not about having the ball. Brighton had the ball btu mainly in their half. We had a good spell in the last 10 minutes to control much better. We had a moment in the second half where we were conceding too much territory.”
“Our long-term goal is how we played in the first 30-35 minutes. That's our aim. During 90 minutes you'll have moments where you have to be more compact. We should be able to differentiate. The other day I was quite pleased. Against Villarreal I thought there were spells they were controlling us and we weren't comfortable. But the other day I thought we were comfortable.”
“The more time we stay together the more experience we have together, the more comebacks the better you know each other. The easier it is to have references and evolve. We want to do this process while winning games.”

Police escorted a mother of 3-year-old Nevada Pierre from a youth soccer game because her son was benched for being "too good." She says Nevada has scored more than 40 goals in five games this season while playing against children two years older than him.😭😭😭

💬 𝗤𝗨𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗦 - Andoni Iraola on Xabi Alonso:
“I've done maybe 25 interviews about our relationship but at this moment everyone knows. We were close friends, grew up together in the same team, we played against each other at club level and together at national team.”
“But now we are in the same position, I want to beat him and he wants to beat us. Once we are playing against each other the relationship is not good as you stop talking! But he is a very good friend and I wish him all the best.”
Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or feels like a tribute to Wesley Sneijder, Franck Ribéry, Robert Lewandowski, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Neymar Jr. 🏆👏
Players who came so close, delivered extraordinary seasons and never got their moment.
Football has a history of great players missing out on its biggest individual honour, and their names will always be part of that conversation.
Congratulations to Harry Kane, but let’s never forget those who deserved their flowers too. ❤️🔴

Harry Kane has really come a long way to get to where he is today. ❤️👏
This man has literally played everywhere on the pitch. From striker to midfielder, and even goalkeeper at some point. He always turned up when his team needed him.
He simply refused to give up, even after spending his prime years at Tottenham without winning a major trophy. He kept believing that there was still something special waiting for him in football.
No matter how bad things looked, he kept going. He never allowed disappointment to convince him that his story was over.
Today, he has made history by winning the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001.
Harry Kane spent years chasing trophies at Tottenham, facing criticism and being told he couldn’t win anything. But he never gave up on himself. He kept working, kept believing, and eventually won his first major trophy with Bayern Munich at the age of 31 years old, and won the ballon dor for the first time at 33 years old.
Let this remind you that your current situation is not your final destination. Your time will come, even if it takes longer than you expected.
Keep showing up, keep working hard, and never let temporary failures convince you to abandon your dreams.
Your story isn’t over yet. Keep going!
Good morning gees!

Why Kane in 2026 and not Ronaldo in 2018?
Harry Kane winning 2026 Balon Dor, a testament that, Cristiano Ronaldo deserved 2018 edition.
Modric was declared the winner because he had a great World Cup campaign where he won the Golden Ball and finished as runner up.
In that year, he won everything Ronaldo won as collective trophies.
Player vs player, remove goals and passes, Ronaldo was a better player than Modric statistically.
But the fact that Modric had a great world cup campaign, he was picked ahead of Ronaldo.
Fast forward to 2026, Rodri was fantastic for Spain as they won the World Cup. He also won the Golden ball but he was only good for the 4th place finish.
This raises a question? Why Harry Kane in 2026 and not Ronaldo in 2018?
In 2018, some argued you cant use goals to judge a Midfielder and by the way both Ronaldo and Modric won the same trophies.
Of which in 2010 and 2012, despite winning the same trophies as Messi for Barcelona and World Cup (2010) then (Euro) 2012, goals were the reasons Xavi and Iniesta were denied the awards.
The same "goals" scored is the reason Harry Kane was adjudged as the winner in 2026. If it is about the trophy, he didnt win the biggest trophy in Europe or World.
Ronaldo in 2018 won the biggest trophy in club football alongside Modric.
Messi in 2010 and 2012 didn't win the biggest trophy in club football or International football. Xavi and Iniesta did in both years.
This might sound like an old gist but it is always fresh in our memory.
If Messi could win in 2010 and 2012 and Kane could win in 2026, why not Ronaldo in 2018?
If Modric could win in 2018, why not Xavi or Iniesta in 2010 and 2012 and why not Rodri in 2026?
The award will always come and live us with questions.
Congratulations once again to Harry Kane.

Harry Kane was rejected by Arsenal, rejected by Tottenham, and almost signed for Watford. Today, he is a BALLON D’OR WINNER.
Let that sink in.
At 9, Arsenal released him. He returned to his grassroots club, Ridgeway Rovers, and kept playing. Tottenham initially rejected him after a trial. Watford then offered him a contract, but fate had other plans.
In a friendly against Spurs, Kane scored a hat-trick for Watford. Tottenham changed their minds almost immediately and offered him a contract.
But getting into Spurs was only the beginning.
He spent years on loan at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester. He wasn’t the superstar prospect everyone was waiting for. At Tottenham, he had to compete with established names like Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe.
When his opportunity finally came under Tim Sherwood, he took it. Goals followed. Records fell. He became Tottenham’s greatest goalscorer, England’s all-time leading scorer, and now a Ballon d’Or winner.
No shortcuts. No overnight success. Just years of rejection, patience, hard work and belief.
And there’s something beautiful about his loyalty, too. He spent nearly two decades at Spurs, growing from a rejected academy boy into a club legend before beginning a new chapter at Bayern Munich.
Sometimes, life will take you on a route you never planned. You may be rejected where you thought you belonged and overlooked where you thought you deserved a chance.
Keep working. Keep believing. Keep going.
Your rejection might not be the end of your story. It might be the beginning of the journey that makes your name unforgettable.

🚨🚨🎙️ | Andoni Iraola on injuries:
“We still have to wait. We train later. Florian [Wirtz] was quite fine and optimistic he would be available. And with Dom and Victor I'm not so sure. I don't want to say no but I think it's more difficult than Florian.”

No one is really talking about how we went from Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, kaka, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rooney , zidane, Xavi and iniesta competing for the most prestigious price in football to having
Dembéle, Kane and Rodri as balondor winners 😭
The game is really fucking gone 💔

🗣️ Andoni Iraola on the team selection:
“There will definitely be changes but we want to win the game. We want to be competitive. We have to see how the legs are. We've been trying to make changes from game to game. We want to be in the next round. We have been unlucky in the draw, playing Chelsea, and they've been unlucky also. But we want to earn the right to be in the draw again and that can only happen if you win.”
More apology speech than ballon dor win. 👍🏻
🚨🚨 KYLIAN MBAPPÉ STATEMENT:
“During a recent interview, I reacted to an image of myself.
My comment was ill-judged, and I now understand that it hurt many people in China and in Chinese communities around the world.
I apologise to everyone my words have upset
This was absolutely not my intention. I have deep respect for the Chinese people and their history.
I am sincerely sorry.”
