Patrick Stewart says his biggest regret is the things he never said to the people he loved and not being vulnerable sooner. “Being brave, being open, being sensitive to other people, tuning into them, becomes more and more important to me.” He regrets the things he never got to say to his family. “I wish I could go back, There are things I would like to say to my parents and my brothers that I never said. That makes me very, very sad.” He’s learned the power of vulnerability. “Being vulnerable is the primary objective in my life now, with those I care about.” Rip patrick Stewart 🕊️🤦🏽‍♂️

Patrick Stewart, who died today at 86, became Professor X and Captain Picard. As a boy, he watched his father beat his mother, and heard the doctors who came to help tell her it was her own fault. In the video below, a woman thanks him for helping her survive her own abuse, and his answer brings the whole room to its feet. He grew up in a poor mill town in England. His father came home from World War II a different man and turned his violence on Patrick's mother. Every time the doctors and ambulance men came, they told her she must have provoked him, that it takes two to make an argument. Decades later, Stewart learned from his father's war records that he had been suffering from severe shell shock that was never treated. So he spent the rest of his life working for two charities: one for abused women, in his mother's name, and one for traumatized soldiers, in his father's. He could have spent his life hating his father. Instead, he spent it helping others. Is that the kind of legacy that matters more than fame?

We at American Dad! have so much gratitude and love for Patrick Stewart. He said how happy he was to do American Dad! because he was so rarely asked to do comedy, which is insane, as his ability to get the laugh was uncanny. Thank you, Sir, for sharing your joyful spirit, inspiring voice, and willingness to be ridiculous. You turned Avery Bullock, Deputy Director of the CIA, into someone the world loved and couldn't get enough of. We will miss you.

I could list all the tremendous roles and moments we know #PatrickStewart for, but I also feel like I was the only person in the world who watched #BluntTalk. I don't remember a ton about it but very few shows get my view just for one performer. You will be missed you true legend

I know Patrick Stewart ‘s filmography is ginormous. I just wanted to give some attention to American Dad. He’s been on that show for more than 20 years now and he’s such a surprisingly large presence in it. So so funny. I’m gonna miss him a lot

Dafne Keen pays tribute to Patrick Stewart: “I heard of Patrick’s passing earlier today, which is funny in a kismet kind of way, considering I was drafting an email to send him late last night, something I hadn’t done in quite some time. He was such a kind, genuine, funny, unique, caring and charming man. I remember his endless jokes, nurturing nature and colourful reading glasses. Every single day spent working by his side was an honour and a privilege I can't quite believe I had. He was a walking master of his craft, and of life. One of the greatest of our time, on stage and on screen. I have always looked up to him, and always will. As an actor and as a man. He had a wonderful way of wrapping every ancient lesson he imparted in wonder, fun and excitement. I will always remember his warmth and the respect he showed to everyone around him. I will forever hold those months we spent together close to my heart, and will always think of him as a pivotal part of how I view the world around me. So rest in peace, you giant, you legend amongst men. The beautiful work, humanity and kindness you leave behind will live on forever.”
