today, Minecraft stopped being the favorite game in our house... and I got kicked off both my workstations
so I am relegated to prompting the Virtual Matter world through my phone during live playtesting of our onboarding experience, that now has incredible tropical water we cooked last night with Opus 5.5
what a time to be alive

I quit my job, spent my last $1400 and built Aestra, a permadeath online RPG, without knowing how to code
A lot of you keep asking the same thing: is it actually making money?
Yes. The first class I put up for sale was the Death Metal Bard, at $1. Over 2,000 of you have bought it, and Aestra is now officially profitable. I had so much fun creating this class and I'm so happy players like this unique class
I've since added two more $1 classes that are already making money, the Nightblade and the Cloudbreaker, and I'll show them off properly soon
Thanks for everyone of you that are playing the game and engaging with my content. I'm always getting a lot of questions how I built this game as I don't knoe hoe yo code. The whole game was vibecoded with AI and built with Opus 5.5 and @TesanaAI
I'm going to keep working on Aestra, and got another big project that I will post about later this week.

"Slop" is work that is low effort and low intent. I'm pro-AI, and anti-slop.
By low intent I mean the ratio of creative decisions being made by you vs by the AI. If the scale tips too far towards the AI, it's not your vision anymore.
But there is so much nuance to using these tools in 2026. You can get very involved, give detailed notes and feedback, make minor changes, and iterate just like you would giving feedback to a human collaborator.
This makes you a director, and an artist.

An example of how to sacrifice an entire unit and an entire mission. Russia and the mirage of being a major military power.
ohhh snap
I’m starting to think “AI slop” is just a coping mechanism for mediocre people.
For years, being able to write code, design a website, or produce decent content made you valuable.
Now a $20 subscription can do much of that.
Suddenly everyone is deeply concerned about quality, craftsmanship, and the human touch.
Funny how those concerns became so important the moment their skills stopped being scarce.
AI isn’t destroying creativity.
It’s destroying the ability to charge a premium for mediocrity.
This is so bad ass. We gotta get Omarchy running on this thing, @PalmerLuckey!
correct. having the best time doing exactly this on virtualmatter.ai .. stay tuned for the latest today

This article is full of blatant misinformation.
"The components Luckey specified that are planned to be American-made from the start are the display glass, the frame around the display, and parts of the ribbon component."
No. That is not what I said. This was a response to a specific question about the display modules in the current prototype vs the final product. As I explicitly said, BlueChip has American chips, batteries, metallics, plastics, glass, etc, and we have a clear technical roadmap to 100% American components.
"It sounds like BlueChip’s first laptop will be well below the 65-percent requirement to count as American-made"
This is nuts. There is a reason no other reporter has came to this conclusion. One hint might be the extended discussion we had explicitly about the government requirements for American-made hardware and why meeting that bar is so important.
"Palmer Luckey is of course a controversial figure, with his history of fueling right wing troll farms"
This never happened. You are pushing a lie The Verge has pushed for over a decade now. Yes, you have written a bunch of stories claiming this happened, but it just ain't so. I gave $9,000 to a group that ran a single anti-Clinton billboard. The "right wing troll farms" narrative was a fabricated story pushed shortly before the 2016 election because Dems desperately wanted a right-wing equivalent to the actually-real Correct The Record, an online astroturfing organization that paid people to troll and "correct" Trump supporters online.
But there was no such thing. It was all disinformation. Which is why most of the stories about it were later deleted. Yet here you are, lying again.
"I'm not making this to get rich, I am making it because I've wanted to most of my life."
Call it AI slop. Call the visuals trash, the gameplay terrible, or say it’s a copy of Cuphead or MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. You’re allowed to dislike what I’m making. But you don’t get to decide what it means to me.
For the past four months, I’ve been building this game, doing 60% of the work myself, with AI helping me create my own engine layer on top of Godot and bring the world to life. I’m open about the tools I use. I have nothing to hide.
The character at the heart of this game is someone I used to draw as a kid. For years, that’s all he could be: a drawing and an idea I couldn’t afford to make real. The animation and artwork costs were simply beyond my reach.
Now I can finally make that game. I can watch a character from my childhood move, explore, and exist in a world I imagined. And I’m having a damn blast doing it.
Criticize the game. Tell me what looks bad, what plays badly, what needs work. I can take that. But attacking me for using the tools that made this possible won’t make me ashamed of it.
I’m not making this to get rich. I’m making it because I’ve wanted to for most of my life.
You don’t have to play it. You don’t have to like it. I’m still going to make it.

Nice! Oculus creator Palmer Luckey’s company Anduril is teaming up with Qualcomm to make ultra rugged computers in America. As much of mobile computing has evolved into fragile art, there’s a huge unmet demand for durable work tools.

This chart is insane. This shows Russia's casualties over time compared to Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine over the last five years.
No sane or rational person would say continuing the war to try and take more of Ukraine's territory is worth the casualties.
appears to be.. not slop
Curious on how Claude thinks through game development independently? Check out this "devlog" I have it make in the replies
Opus 5.5 has been working on this game for 32 hours straight with 15-27 subagents at any given time in this latest "turn". Still many bugs to figure out, but I'm so excited to release this soon.
what was that you were saying, AI allergics...?
Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, on generative AI and the evolution of videogame creation:
'As you mentioned earlier, this is an era where even people who aren't game designers can make games. If we broaden the definition of a 'game,' I think the era has already arrived where everyone can make games. I had always thought it would be ideal for those boundaries to disappear, so I think this has become a very good era.'

I am the one replaced by AI, my 40k hours of manual coding was made obsolete this year. Don't tell me which methods to use to survive. If the game is bad, send me feedback so I can improve it.
That's my new automatic response for the dozens of 'don't use vibe-coding' comments under my videos

Everyday I got unskilled people telling me to stop vibe coding under the videos of my game.
They say I should learn the skill.
Let's imagine I didnt have 40k hours of manual coding
Let's imagine I was a non-tech pursuing a goal of becoming an indie dev.
Don't I have the right to use AI to make incredible games?
You could have expected that the gate keepers would be the dev, afraid of becoming useless. But no, we are the first ones great replaced and the most enthusiasts about LLM.

If you can code, you can learn how to control fleets of agents to do your bidding. You still have a massive advantage here vs. the average non-coder.
For some people, coding was the only valuable skill they had.
If you made your money by selling your ability to write JavaScript, CSS, Python, or whatever else, I understand why you are pissed now.
"Writing code" is worth very little today.
The sad part is that learning to code wasn't easy. It takes years for someone to become a skilled programmer.
Imagine watching all of those years go down the drain.
If you are a programmer (I mean, just someone who knows how to write code in a particular programming language), your days are numbered.
If you still think AI can't do your job, you are just in denial.
But honestly, writing code was never that valuable anyway. If you were a code pusher, you already knew that the best people at your company weren't just writing code.
They came up with new ideas, designed solutions, architected whole systems, knew how to troubleshoot and fix problems, found different ways to build better software, and, in general, spent almost no time writing code.
Not only are those people thriving today, but they're also the ones who will ride the AI wave and learn to bend it to their will.
So don't cling too long to what you lost; embrace what's already here. AI is a tide that lifts all boats, but you have to be open to it.
having way too much fun adding various crazy shaders to this tripped-out experience. Fun to pull out at real world parties and have people join in seconds on their own phones with the QR code multiplayer shortcut!
