In this house, we believe
- GDP is a good proxy for economic output
- Financial markets are efficient
- the US is a manufacturing hyperpower
- in a standard production function of y = f(K, L, A)
- the US has special providence
Sullivan’s goal was to end the war; it was to make the Russia-Ukraine war last as long as possible to bleed Russia. Ukraine is a chess piece lol
Goddamn escalation manager — NOW he gets it?!?!?
We’ve been screaming at him for YEARS that Putin wants to subjugate Ukraine and that Biden’s drip-aid policy designed to prevent Ukraine from losing but not allowing it to push the Russians out was horrible and destined to prolong the war. Which it did.
This here specimen along with fake experts like @scharap at RAND — who’s still probably convinced that Putin only wants Donbas and a pink pony — were the architects of that disaster. And they are primarily responsible for saddling Ukraine with the calamity that is Trump because they didn’t deliver what they could have when they could.
Now he’s pontificating about it. Damn, I can’t stand these losers.
U.S. hegemony keeps marching on marching on marching on
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.
Hey @ICEgov can you please deport this German national who has almost certainly overstayed his visa and is endlessly prancing around the U.S. on public dollars?

"First, foreign ideas are pervasive: 54% of U.S. technologies build on at least one foreign input, and the most fertile U.S. technologies rely on foreign inputs most heavily. Second, foreign ideas have large causal effects on U.S. innovation. Using the historical settlement of migrants as a source of exogenous variation in local ancestry, we show that U.S. counties more exposed to knowledge from a given foreign country absorb substantially more technologies from that country and, in turn, invent significantly more U.S. technologies building on them."
The U.S. should start a limited nuclear war with China right now by nuking Mianyang, Lop Nor, and Lanzhou; important nuclear cities in China. This will be an ingenious strategy to prevent China from developing a survivable second strike and guarantees the U.S. military hegemony
As China emerges as a second nuclear-armed peer, the United States risks losing the ability to deter its pacing threat. usni.org/magazines/proceedin…
The October 7, 2022 export controls of semiconductors to China is yet another shining example of U.S. #SpecialProvidence because it meant China missed the start of the AI boom, didn’t get the export dollars TSM and Samsung are currently getting, and is in compute poverty
effects on GDP have truly been locked in. Crazy how well the timing went here since ChatGPT came out only a few months later and exploded the use of leading node semiconductors away from the standard consumer product line of phones and laptop CPUs to AI GPUs
Industry and finance are complements, not substitutes. There is no industrialization and innovation without financialization

This is actually incorrect. Turnout by day tends to favor Republicans week 1, pick up for dems over the weekend. Turn back to Republicans Mon-Weds of week two, and finish heavy for dems on Thursday and Friday of week 2.
Tues-Thursday of this week will be Rs strongest days.
I say this with genuine sympathy for the excesses German Jews face today:
German Jews still have to find a way to respond that is still affirmative to right-wing Germany or prove their critics right
Military-civil fusion examples in the United States
- The CIA, via In-Q-Tel providing all sorts of VC equity funding to startups
- National laboratories focused on nuclear weapons providing civilian science services for a fee
- Veterans preference in hiring for government and contractor roles
- Whatever it is that DIUx does
- Everything that DARPA does
What am I missing? @blob_watcher

International immigration is inherently an entrepreneurial act that selects for people with at least some appetite for risk taking.
"immigrants are almost twice as likely to start a business as their native-born peers. Despite lacking a safety net to fall back on or a network of family members to take care of them, immigrants...often take more risks than the rest of us." a.co/d/0bOJuyue

The USA’s bottomless appetite for financial innovation and skill at maintaining deep, liquid, versatile capital markets is possibly our most critical strategic asset.
U.S. educational attainment has been increasing all the while humanities programs, including graduate ones disappear. Yet another talking point about human capital in the U.S. bites the dust
