PROJECT HAIL MARY author Andy Weir has an idea for a STAR WARS and STAR TREK crossover. “In my mind, I call it 'Star Star’…The idea is that the Genesis device going off at the end of 'The Wrath of Khan' rips a hole in the fabric of reality. And so did, too, the Death Star exploding in 'A New Hope.' It becomes the Yavin/Mutara wormhole. Then I imagine the Enterprise goes there, and so from that point forward, the stories diverge from canon…When the Enterprise goes to the 'Star Wars' universe, Spock [Leonard Nimoy] is dead, because it's the end of 'The Wrath of Khan,' but then Spock becomes a Force ghost. And Sulu [George Takei] has inherent Jedi abilities which manifest once he goes there."  (Source: inverse.com/entertainment/an…)

Anthropic is now recommending that companies REMOVE unnecessary subagents from their AI systems. This is a pretty significant shift in agent architecture, with their team finding that a single agent equipped with skills can frequently outperform complex multi-agent systems, and one customer seeing roughly 2x faster execution. The emerging rules of thumb: → Skills: Teach the agent HOW to do something, including procedures, expertise, and instructions. → Tools / MCP: Give the agent the ability to DO things through APIs, actions, and live data. → Subagents: Use for parallel work, isolated context, or tasks a single agent struggles with. The interesting part is progressive disclosure. Instead of spawning specialized agents or stuffing everything into a giant prompt, one agent discovers and loads skills and tools as needed. Their advice is to fold existing subagents into the main loop, turn their instructions into skills, expose their actions as tools, and run evals to see if performance holds up. As models have gotten smarter, improving agent architecture is becoming less about what you can add and more about what you can delete. claude.com/resources/article…

I don't want teachers to get bonuses though
Honest question: With all the new facts coming out, why hate data centers? What we have seen from meta is: - they are great for unions - they are great for blue collar workers - they put money directly into local communities - they are giving cities money to pay teachers bonuses - power costs are coming down in towns that build them - they don’t use any water This shouldn’t be partisan at all. They are cleaner than a factory in your town. They are quieter than a new freeway It’s a big room full of computers that house all your Netflix movies and tik toks. But this room also pays for the teachers in your town. And makes your bills cheaper. Seems like a magic room

Maybe the dumbest thing I've seen all week
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

Imagine staying in an AirBNB lol
its just bonkers the new policy @airbnb is trying to put in place. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, taking out the trash, pulling the sheets off the bed....they are just standard things any normal person would do when staying at a house. Why wouldn't a host be allowed to say that?

Without naming the movie, what's one quote that gives it away?

I encourage all my fellow Intellectual Protestants to volunteer at your local evangelical megachurch
Ross is right about the vibrancy of evangelicalism. But a distinction needs to be made. The strongest currents of Protestantism in the US are Wesleyan, not Calvinist, Pentecostal rather than Presbyterian. When intellectual Protestants wax triumphant about an “evangelical century,” they are celebrating the success of a form of Christianity that differs in significant ways from their own. I was raised in a non-denominational evangelical church. When I became “young, restless, and Reformed,” my parents were alarmed. They asked the pastor how to handle my evident defection from the faith. Whatever I believed, they thought, it wasn’t true Christianity. Intellectual Protestants—the kind who attend Anglican churches or imbibe high-proof Calvinist texts—represent traditions of belief that have helped shape this country. But in terms of sociology and doctrine, they are alienated from the most vigorous contemporary expressions of American Christianity.

Yep, you find a lot of non-charismatic evangelical churches playing music from Hillsong and Bethel. Bethel esp is a theological dumpster fire (prosperity gospel), so it always shocked me that the theological content of their music wasn't worse.
