This French trio (now disbanded, alas) cited the Mills Brothers as one of their influences. You can hear that influence in this song.

I enjoy the work of this Danish painter, Peder Mørk Mønsted, even if his style apparently fell out of favor.

Here's another painter, John Atkinson Grimshaw, who did some amazing work.

I haven't been able to find a good-sounding video of this song on its own, but (if this link works) here is a David Gates song that I hadn't heard before I got this David Gates Songbook album. I like the bit of ambiguity in the ending as to how things turned out.

It should be noted that Gavin Newsom, while running for governor in 2018, specifically pledged to honor voters' decision to keep the death penalty. Almost immediately after inauguration he declared a moratorium on executions and now is granting clemency to death row inmates.

Steve Hilton ran a great campaign.
He had great practical solutions that would make day-to-day life more affordable for Californians.
He visited every corner of California, never dodged questions, and did everything he could to speak with every day Californians.
It just wasn’t enough.
The majority of Californians are too brainwashed, and/or ignorant, to recognize that the status quo is destroying the middle class.
Great work @SteveHiltonx.
Many of us appreciate what you tried to do.

Xaviar Becerra is going to bring down the cost of living by taxing me for every mile I drive on top of the gas that I pay for and am taxed on, on top of the car I pay $200 every year to be able to operate even though it’s fully mine.
Very excited for this plan. I can feel more money in my pocket already.
