Fundamentally, I think we're living through a civilizational shift, and most people still don't see it.
For decades, one model ran the West. It didn't run through elections. It ran through institutions.
Antonio Gramsci understood this a century ago, from a prison cell: you don't take power by storming the palace, you take it by capturing the culture. The universities, the press, the schools, the courts, the foundations, the bureaucracy. Win the institutions and you never need to win the argument, because you decide which arguments are allowed. In the 60s, the German student leader Rudi Dutschke turned it into a slogan: the long march through the institutions.
It worked everywhere, even in America, the one country supposedly built to resist exactly this.
Here's the part nobody says out loud. An entire class of billionaires got rich inside that system, and now they have every incentive to keep it running. When your wealth, your status, and your moral standing all depend on the institutions staying captured, you don't reform them. You fund them.
Elon has a line he keeps coming back to: he cares about the reality of goodness, not the perception of it.
That sentence is a scalpel, because the old model runs on the opposite principle: perception of goodness, purchased at scale.
Look at who owns or bankrolls the narrative.
Laurene Powell Jobs bought The Atlantic. Marc Benioff bought Time. Pierre Omidyar poured hundreds of millions into The Intercept and a network of media and "democracy" nonprofits. George Soros's fund became the largest shareholder of Audacy, a company with over 200 radio stations, while Open Society has spent billions funding NGOs, activist groups, and journalism programs around the world.
None of these people need the money, and media is a terrible business. So why buy it?
Because you're not buying a business. You're buying an aura, the right to be called good by the people who decide who is good. It's an indulgence in the medieval sense: pay the church, get absolved.
And the people they claim to care about? The guy in the Ohio town that got hollowed out isn't a priority. He's a talking point.
Once you see this, the only honest question left is: what actually works?
The answer is brutally simple. Pure value creation.
Build something that didn't exist. Make it cheaper, faster, better. Let millions of people choose it freely. Reinvest. Repeat. That's the only machine in human history that has ever pulled billions of people out of poverty. Not galas, grants, or op-eds. Production.
That's what Elon does: reusable rockets, electric cars at scale, internet from space, brain-computer interfaces. Each one is a gift to humanity with a price tag attached, and the price tag is what makes it last.
Of course it doesn't look like philanthropy. In the old model, philanthropy is a ritual. You take money and visibly hand it to someone, and the visible handing is the point. Creation is invisible. Nobody throws a gala for a 10x drop in launch costs.
And the old model doesn't even perform the ritual honestly. It isn't redistributing wealth to the poor. It's funding NGOs. Some are bullshit NGOs that exist to produce reports, conferences, and salaries. Others are worse: NGOs acting as an unelected shadow government, lobbying, litigating, shaping speech rules, deciding which voters are "misinformed." They answer to their donors, never to citizens. That's not philanthropy. It's a parallel state no democracy ever voted for.
This world is dying.
It's collapsing under its own weight: too expensive, too slow, too disconnected from the people it claims to serve. And it's collapsing under its own lies, because a system that runs on perception can't survive the moment everyone sees reality in real time, unfiltered, on their phone.
That moment is now.
I have never been more optimistic.
The institutions were captured. The builders aren't marching back through them. They're making them irrelevant.

Actor Dean Cain says it's 'comical' to see former President Obama saying the HSI raid of Rep. Ilhan Omar's home was an example of
'weaponization' of government after the 'lawfare' that happened to President Trump.
@NicholasBallasy Washington DC, October 20.
Ridiculous.
NEW: Rep. Delia Ramirez's (D-IL) open borders bill to dismantle DHS, abolish ICE, and abolish both CBP and Border Patrol, has garnered only five Democratic co-sponsors in the House after she introduced it last week. They are:
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN)
Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ)
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI)
Rep. Jesus "Chuy" Garcia (D-IL)
Rep. James McGovern (D-MA)
Nobody has signed on to co-sponsor it since October 15th. (Omar & Garcia). Ramirez introduced it on October 13th.

Three questions:
1) Why does Abdul El Sayed visit, speak at, and participate in events at a mosque that is apparently a hotbed for Islamic radicalism?
2) Why are American taxpayers forced to give this jihad mosque $45 million?!
3) Has anyone in the press asked him about this?
"O Allah, count them, kill them one by one, and leave none of them."
Here are 44 clips of imams from the Islamic Center of Detroit — where Abdul El-Sayed worships — promoting murder.
The federal government has given the mosque over $45 million since 2017
Actor @JoeMantegna tells @adamcarolla about becoming a gun enthusiast:
"Don't assume that my belief in the 2nd Amendment has anything to do with any politics I may have. ... I've been doing the show 'Gun Stories' for 15 years and I shoot all these guns."

There's a WNBA game tonight?
🚨This is INSANE!
The NBA just BANNED us from tonight’s WNBA game for peacefully asking ‘What is a Woman?’
I’m here with @EnesFreedom and we were supposed to go to the WNBA Finals Game tonight and sit on the floor with these shirts:
- What is a woman
- Christ is King
The NBA said these shirts were a security threat and may ‘target’ and ‘harm’ players.
Director of Security and Chief of Security for NBA called and said we are not allowed to sit on the floor and they won’t let us in the arena unless we go in the player entrance and go just to a box as far away form the game as possible.
This is madness. Feels discriminatory. All this just for asking the ‘Women’s’ Basketball league What is a Woman?

Blaming President Trump for decades of failed French immigration policy is peak idiocracy.
Deflect away, @EmmanuelMacron.

Let me get this straight. Because these olive harvests recently have been the sites of local violence (often instigated by foreign left-wing activists), Israel closes off the area to keep the peace. You numbskulls travel halfway across the world to pick the olives, make performative videos and show solidarity with terrorists, and the IDF tells you to sit this one out. Maybe, just maybe, the IDF is protecting you from mayhem and embarrassment.
I am waiting for @netanyahu and @Isaac_Herzog to pipe in calling Brad Lander a liar who is staging a photo up. Or maybe Mr. Witkoff will be brazen enough to compliment Netanyahu & Herzog as great humanitarians like Putin & Trump.
The world needs a new generation of leadership!
