Duane Allman died 55 years ago today. He was 24.
In just a few years, he redefined slide guitar, led the Allman Brothers to At Fillmore East, one of the greatest live albums ever, and played the soaring slide on Clapton's "Layla," a part many people still think is Clapton. Taken at his peak. They called him Skydog.

Turnout stood at 55.7% at 4pm, up 8 points on the same hour in 2022 and the highest ever recorded.

I love this trope as if simply going to Walmart and seeing the towns we grew up in grow increasingly unrecognizable and filled with foreigners didn’t radicalize us more than anything on the internet ever did.
It's really none of those reasons, they're online too much and getting radicalized by the feedback loop of an algo that is purposely designed to keep your attention by providing increasingly provocative media, because that generates more sticky interaction, which incentivizes more posting from the most hostile and pervasive of rage-bait content creators AND engagement of the consumer who follows them, which results in people with a loose grasp on reality being desensitized to becoming hostile and violent in public more casually.
At mass scale, this cause-and-effect creates more human confrontations more often than if the algo were NOT emotionally manipulating mentally unstable people as I described, and in fact, is likely contributing to more widespread mental instability in the first place. But you know that.
