Our EU–PAHO partnership is delivering results: with DG ECHO support, we are sustaining essential health services in Cuba, responding to diphtheria in Haiti, and supporting health care in Venezuela.
Together, we are turning commitments into action for the 🌎.

What role should regions play in shaping the future of global health?
At #WHS2026 in Berlin, I joined a panel on global health governance and financing, bringing the experience of the Americas to a debate on how to build a more resilient global health architecture.
For over 120 years, countries have worked together through PAHO to tackle shared health challenges.
From pooled procurement to disease elimination, and regional production, our experience shows how regional cooperation can turn global commitments into action.

That experience also points to what global health reform needs: stronger regional leadership, a greater voice for countries in decision-making, and financing that better aligns domestic resources and international cooperation with national priorities.
