ICE is calling 60 minutes fake and gay.
Fake & Gay! Moussa Diawara, the Malian national featured in this shockingly poorly researched @60Minutes report, now faces allegations of immigration FRAUD after his asylum application surfaced, revealing that he claimed to be a HOMOSEXUAL man who feared persecution in Mali. Read more ⬇️

Not long ago Pinker was arguing that AI would never be capable of basic deduction. If you'd suggested then that it would enable bioterrorism he'd have said you'd been reading too much sci fi.

I notice Steven hasn't got round to responding to Scott who showed extensively how deficient Pinker's arguments are on this topic. open.substack.com/pub/astral…

Music is subjective but "the Beatles are overrated" is the clearest signal anyone will ever give that they simply don't know what they are talking about.
*deep inhale* Guys, it’s The Beatles. Formulaic music that got hyped into genius status by a perfect storm of timing and savvy media, not actual skill. Expert exploitation of trends already pioneered by others. They’re a marketing phenomenon that got called the greatest because they sold a lot of records to herd-mentality teenagers, not because the music itself was ever the most advanced, demanding, or enduring rock ever made.

The presidential pardon power is out of control on both sides of the aisle, and I think it should end. There are literally people who are pardon brokers who are being paid $300,000 to get close to Trump and to buy a pardon. Ban the presidential pardon.

“Some of these things are impossible to prove but they’re so diabolical that we know instinctively that something is wrong” (my distillation of what he said). What happened to “facts don’t care about your feelings”?
What an irresponsible demented thing to say from the Speaker of the House. These assholes are gearing up to destroy democracy because of the impending electoral wipeout that their idiotic policies have brought the country to.

Congrats to the “conservatives” who have ushered in an era of: -A pro-Putin administration; -Superpower suicide; -Crony socialism; -live-streamed executions; -losing a war to Iran; -unprecedented corruption; -vindictive prosecutions; -A disastrous economy for the working class.

Spare a thought for Thom Yorke, who in 1997 was forced to perform the album he’d just recorded
.@thomyorke tells @Harry_Styles that he was sick of ‘OK Computer’ by the time it came out. “When we finished that record, we'd been already playing those songs too much. And like, then when the manager said to us, 'Now you're going to go on tour for 2 years,' I'm like, I literally begged them, 'I can't, I can't do it.'”

Anthropic could have the biggest IPO in history, right as the company sounds the alarm over the supposed power of their AI technology. Despite the alarm, Anthropic is racing ahead with going public, a move that could make their 300 investors very, very rich. These early investors have put $130 billion into the company already, and they're among richest people on Earth. So they won't settle for anything less than massive returns, a huge IPO, and endless growth from Anthropic.

I’m astonished at how uncritically these claims are repeated. Ask Affleck what open models Interpositive built on top of since they certainly *did* train on his peers’ work. See article here dissecting claims: converger.kevinbankston.com/…
Ben Affleck (Hollywood star & Artists Equity CEO) talks about how he fine-tunes open video models by unfreezing weights and trained only the last cinematic layer so a film crew can hit real production standards. for context, Ben Affleck founded InterPositive in 2022, a 16-person AI shop for film post and Netflix bought it in March 2026 for $587 mn in cash. He needed that model because public video models were trained on his peers' films, and he did not think that was a real business. So InterPositive raised money, shot its own dataset for 8 months on a controlled stage, and used it only as late-stage training. Each new film then trains a private model on its own dailies, so the production keeps the footage and the learning. That is the product Netflix paid $587 million for. ---- From "Bloomberg Live" YouTube channel, (link in comment)

"...and agreeing that we're going to have all of our boards of directors independently review the reports that come from the auditors." - Zuck Yeah, the boards of directors of the AI companies themselves are truly the definition of "independent". Un-fucking-real.

Chalk this up to "conversations we should've been having a full decade ago". In fact, some of us were REALLY trying to have these discussions. But the rest of the country (both right and left) wanted to talk endlessly about identity politics instead. You broke it. We bought it.
