PRESS RELEASE CLARIFICATION: WITHDRAW OF RECOGNITION OF THE BACHELOR OF PHARMACY (BPHARM) PROGRAM AT MBARARA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MUST) 1. We make reference to a Public Notice from the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda, claiming withdrawal of the recognition of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. 2. The National Council for Higher Education is mandated under Section 4d (ii) of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act Cap. 262, to โ€˜receive, consider and process applications for accreditation of academic and professional programmes of higher education institutions, in consultation with professional associations and regulatory bodies.โ€™ 3. The National Council for Higher Education is further mandated under Section 4(f) of the Act to โ€œreceive and investigate complaints relating to institutions of higher education and take appropriate action.โ€ 4. The mandate of recognition of academic qualifications rests with the National Council for Higher Education, as mandated under Section 4(i) of the Act. Given the above statutory provisions, National Council for Higher Education would like to clarify as follows: 1. The Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology was first accredited by the National Council for Higher Education in 2010. Since then, the programme has received multiple re-accreditations. The most recent re-accreditation was granted on 30th January 2025, for the programme to run up to 2036. All the re-accreditations have been granted in consultation with the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda, as required under Section 4d (ii) of the Act. 2. The National Council for Higher Education was neither involved nor consulted in the Pharmaceutical Society of Ugandaโ€™s unilateral decision to withdraw its recognition of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. 3. Withdrawalof recognition of qualifications of graduates of a given programme or academic institution is the preserve of the National Council for Higher Education. 4. Mbarara University had an Associate Professor of Pharmacy heading the Department of Pharmacy until July 2026 when he resigned to join another academic institution on promotion to full Professor. The University temporarily engaged a Senior Lecturer, with a nursing background but holding a PhD in Pharmacology from Ghent University in Belgium, to head the Department. The current Acting Head of Department of the Pharmacy Department is a Pharmacist who also serves as the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda. 5. National Council for Higher Education categorically states that: a) The Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology is fully accredited. b) The accreditation has not been withdrawn by the National Council for Higher Education. c) The teaching and learning of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology should continue. 6. The National Council for Higher Education remains open to receiving and investigating complaints related to higher education institutions in Uganda. unche.or.ug/clarification-wiโ€ฆ

Uganda ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ @ 64 What did the lowering of the Union Jack and the hoisting of the Uganda flag signify? LIVE @ubcmagic100fm 7-10am kesho "MUTEESA IS PRESIDENT"! Uganda's first president was not elected by all Ugandans but by our Members of Parliament on 4 October 1963. In the race was Buganda's Kabaka, Sir Edward Muteesa and Busoga's Kyabazinga, Sir William Wilberforce Nadiope. On election eve, Nadiope was still the favourite, especially after the kings of Tooro, Bunyoro and Ankole advised their respective MPs to vote for him. However, it is said that Prime Minister Milton Obote deduced that the fragile unity Uganda had achieved prior to independence would be in jeopardy if Muteesa lost this election. Sources say he _reached_ _out_ to the MPs and when the votes were finally counted, Muteesa had 62, Nadiope 27. But the disappointed Kyabazinga was somewhat molified when he too won the vice presidency by a landslide, defeating candidates from Lango, Karamoja and Sebei. Ugandans first directly voted their president in 1986, when Yoweri Museveni trounced Dr Paulo Kawanga Semogerere and Alhaji Mohammad Kibirige Mayanja. The rest, as @owanapaedia @TonyOwana shows, is also our history!

My current standing imposes on me certain restrictions especially on matters of international relations. However, Ethiopians must accept to have harmony with themselves first to avoid having endless tribal bickering. The tribal federalism is a big threat to the unity of Ethiopia
THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR AFRICA! Those who hate me for telling the truth and speaking out on African affairs must understand one thing: โ€œI am not paid by anyone on Earth to speak. My only obligation is to God, who has given me the courage and conviction to speak out on issues affecting Africaโ€. I know President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea (@isaias_afwerki) very well. We worked together in office in Islington London in the late 1980s, alongside my good friend, the late Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. He is a dangerous man that Africa must watch . In my assessment, President Afwerki is a hardened dangerous militarist whose conduct and approach to regional politics have often been detrimental to peace and stability in Africa. All trouble of terrorism in East Africa and the Horn of Africa are squarely at his door . The emerging alliance involving Eritrea ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ท , Somalia ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ด and Egypt ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ raises serious questions about its intentions towards Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น . Rather than building bridges and promoting peace and stability in the Red Sea region, this alignment risks isolating Ethiopia and deepening regional divisions. The so-called Quadripartite Summit in Egypt on Sunday must therefore be watched very closely. It is just to discuss how to destroy Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น What is being presented as a meeting to discuss regional developments and matters of mutual interest could become another strategic move to isolate Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น and potentially escalate tensions into a much bigger regional confrontation. Africa must not be drawn into another dangerous geopolitical confrontation. As PAN AFRICAN FORUM LTD & ASSOCIATES, our position is clear: we stand for PEACE, NOT WAR. We support genuine efforts to promote peace, stability and national reconciliation in Ethiopia and throughout the Horn of Africa. Africa needs dialogue, cooperation and unity, not military alliances designed to isolate fellow African nations. LET US NOT CREATE ANOTHER WAR IN AFRICA! I SUPPORT ETHIOPIA ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡นLET US FALL BEHIND THE BEST SIDE.
