The point of teaching women self defence is not to pretend that every woman will magically become a fighter when attacked. It's to give women knowledge, skills, options and a fighting chance. Yes, some people freeze. Some panic. Some fight back. Some find an opportunity to escape. Human responses to danger differ, and none of those responses makes a woman weak. But let's stop discouraging women from learning how to protect themselves simply because you think they won't be able to execute it perfectly under pressure. You don't tell someone not to learn how to swim because they might panic in deep water. You teach them because preparation could save their life. Self defence is not a guarantee. It's preparation. And women deserve every possible tool that could help them survive an attack. Instead of telling women what they cannot do, perhaps encourage them to learn what they can. A woman's safety should never be a joke, a debate or an opportunity to undermine her confidence.
